Basically, once you unlock it, you should be able to boot into the BIOS and disable the HDD password. I'd say to do that first but you would need the password once you were in the BIOS to be able to disable it thus the recommendation to essentially set it to something you know first via the guide above.
Please login to BIOS.To do so, please tap the 'F2' key in the keyboard on startup( before the ACER logo flashes ).After getting to the BIOS you can disable the master password
Download the drivers from the Acer WEB site. Make sure you select the model of your laptop and the XP or Vista version of the drivers you that require and it matches the Windows version that is installed on your laptop. Use this link to get to the Acer support: - http://www.acersupport.com/drivers_download.aspx
choose to boot on the vista partition and imidiatly press F8 several times to get the vista boot menu.
choose "repair computer" choose language, choose user (and type in password if there is any) see if there is a option called something like ACER recovery /factory image / something similar (usually the bottom option)
if there is, click it and start recovery.
if there isnt i would contact acer and have them send me a new recoverysett. (4-6 weeks deliverytime)
Boot your computer up in safe mode, Keep pressing F8 once you turn your computer on until you get to advanced boot options then click on safe mode. Log in under Administrator adn goto the control panel and user accounts and then change her passwrod from there.
