HP C4280 hasn't worked for months now and hardly been used - message comes up saying ink cartridge is empty when it isn't. I'm not an expert but a couple of experts have looked at it and various things have been tried but none of them have worked, including re-installing the whole thing. Help please!!!!!

It not supported ink cartridge so u can batter buy new hp ink cartridge.

Hi there! If you haven`t used the printer in 2-3 months the black ink cartridge has gona dry.Wich means the printer is seeing full ink but the ink isn`t actually coming out from the ink head.Take a peace of clean cloth or cotton and clear the bottom part of the ink head(be verry carfully while cleaning it cuz you may dmg the head.If that doesn`t help just go and buy a new ink cartridge and it will solve your problem.

Uninstall the program from your computer. Plug in your printer first replace with new cartridge making sure to remover the film on the cartridge Then plug in patch cord to computer, program should reinstall if need be you may have to have your disk that comes with the printer. Hope this works, Printers are going for very cheap I would suggest buying a new one if this does not work.

Call UK Tech Support at this number: 0844 369 0369 You will need to talk to tech support there to have them set your printer to UK standards and to allow for the use of a different cartridge number needed for the printer. The c4280 over in UK uses cartridges number 350 and 351 compared to the US numbers of 74 and 75.

First make sure you are placing the right
color cartridge into the right slot.
Most Printers are touchy about the
installation of ink cartridges. If the
instructions say to press the cartridge
into the slot until you hear a loud click,
that's what they mean. If at first you
don't succeed, remove the cartridge and
reinsert it into the slot again and press
on it hard till it clicks.
Then your printer should work properly.

These types of severe cartridge errors (i.e. "refer to documentation" / "incompatible cartridges", "print cartridge(s) problem", etc.) typically indicates the internal micro-electronics of the HP #74 / 75 (or 74XL/75XL) cartridge(s) are damaged. The cartridge's electrical wire runs at rear and lower side of the ink cartridge, are very delicate and are somewhat susceptible to ink attack over time, which can lead to premature failures. In addition, the older the cartridge the higher the chance of an internal electrical failure. I suggest you first run a 'Tap 41' diagnostic test to check cartridges electrical health (this is a forced test); you may also bypass the error (temporarily) on most models which use HP 74/75 cartridges. It appears your printheads are broken. Contact HP to verify.

The cartridge is not seated properly and/or the contacts are dirty. Use a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and gently clean both the copper contacts on the cartridge and inside the cartridge socket. Allow several minutes to dry and then try again.

i bought new inks and inserted them , when in fact its only the yellow inks is empty yet it sends me message that found no cartridges.. waah. this printer been with me for 8 years and had it clean last year only.. what to do?
