Have exactly the same problem on our KV34XBR800 (which is about 5yrs old and minimum use) Whe ser is switched on Red standby light flashes and you hear a click from the inside but no power to set.......screen stays blanl and then flashing standby light stops. How many times do this standby light flashes at one time switch ON? Count it. These flashes are fault indications. From the number of flashes, you can get an idea about which section circuit inside it is faulty. After confirming it, If you wish to get more details of these blinking codes, check this link.
If you unplug the set and plug it back and turn it on and it repeats this look to see if the light is either constantly blinking or blinking a specific number of blinks---specific number would be an error code.
If the lamp and standby lights are both flashing and the timer light is off, check that the lamp cover on the back of the TV is properly positioned in the groove and secured by the screw. Take it off and check that the screws that hold the lamp itself are secure. There is an safety feature that keeps the lamp from turning on when the lamp cover is off.
If the three lights (timer, lamp, and standby) are blinking, then the lamp needs to be replaced. If the timer and standby lights are blinking and the lamp light is off, then a cooling fan isn't working. When only the standby light is blinking and the other lights are off, the unit is overheating and a ventilation area may be blocked.
