I recently received a Sportline S7 Heart Rate Monitor. My main reason for using a HRM is for the calorie burn tracking. There are times when the number of calories burned are about the same as my last HRM and then there are times when it is much higher. Usually I burn about 180 calories on the eliptical for 20 minutes; then there are times that it indicates that I burned 130 calories in less then 10 minutes. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for any information you can provide. Kelli

To get a manual for your monitor, go to "sportline.com",

Select "products" and then "see products" in heart rate monitors.

Go through the list of models to find yours and then click on "learn more".

Details of the monitor will be shown and you then click on the tab marked "manual".

Download your manual.

Not sure which model you have. Manuals for Timex products can be found here:

I would try reprogramming your watch according to the manual instructions for your model. If that does not correct the problem then would consider replacing the battery.

It appears my F6 monitor is not keeping accurant time on calories and heart rate. I like the watch but while checking my sitting heart rate is very low. When checking the heart rate on a blood pressure...

First you need to understand that the Polar system is a medical grade device and it is calculating calories based on specific information that you have inputed and heart rate data from your heart.

Most treadmills and other exercise machines use a much simpler counter that is height and weight based to calculate calories and are generally over generous with their numbers.

Depending on the blood pressure machine you are using, the pulse (not heart rate) is coming through the brachial artery, again not quite as accurate as measuring r-r variance from your heart. There is a ton of literature you can read if you are into the accurateness of the system, but I will sum up with saying that you actual calorie expenditure will be closer on the Polar than on most other devices outside of a hospital. As too the heart rate this is also true, so more likely you are getting inaccurate numbers from the other devices.

If you want pinpoint accuracy then you will need to use the Polar RS800 or S810 devices that measure and display true R-R.

How do I reset the chronograph? Once I start it I can't find a way to reset it.

In heart rate mode, click reset to go to Calorie burned mode. In that mode press and HOLD reset button and this should reset all lap, calorie data. etc

The heart rate function has turned off. So the calorie count won't work. Everything else is working fine. It happened about four days ago. I have lost my owners manual.

Press and hold the reset button, for 5 seconds, while in Time mode. this will reset the heart monitor and the symbol will reappear on the screen.

In checking out information about my new S7 ECG Heart Rate Watch, I noticed your posting. There is a Sportline website that enables you to down the product manual.... although I'm not sure it pertains to the S7. If this doesn't work, I'm sure there is a manual included with the watch I just received, and I'd be happy to email to you. I'll check back to see if you've posted a response here to see if the below website worked for you first. Posted 7/11/2010 by Mary G.
