LG LFC23760SW stopped working-no power. Power cord works. Where are fuses located? Control board?
Unplug the unit and remove the board cover. The fuses are soldered in but can be changed with a soldering iron. They are glass and easily spotted on the board.
Thank you, I'm so happy someone posted that. I went and fixed it today and saved my mom a ton of money.
I found it a little hard to reuse the leads so I bought a thermal fuse from Radio Shack and soldered on those leads to a fuse harness and soldered the harness to the motherboard. This way if there's another failure, no soldering, just replace the fuse itself.
Here is a little more review:
Unplug fridge. Pull out from wall. Be careful not to stress/break ice-maker line if installed.
Open panel on back of fridge (the one at hip height that says Service Panel Only - Do Not Remove, blah blah blah)
See pictures of opened panel here: http://www.amazon.com/LG-LFC23760SW-Fren...
Replace fuse with 9A 250V slow-burn fuse. I used a gray fuse harness from Radio Shack so that if the fuse needs to be replaced again I can just pop in a new one without doing the soldering over.
Since I nuked the original fuse, the end-caps and the wires that went from the end-caps/fuse to the motherboard. I replaced the leads (wires) with some I scavenged off a fresh thermal fuse (also bought at RS, just needed the wires themselves which seemed to be the same diameter/gauge as the original leads) and ran them through the back of the motherboard to the wire harness.
Use a hot iron. (but don't burn yourself).
So far, so good!
If still working in a few hours enjoy a cold beverage... you just saved yourself a lot of $$!
Good luck to you.
Came home today to a dead LG fridge. It took me 5 minutes to find this solution and after a trip to Radio Shack, it took another 10 mins to solder in an inline fuse holder and pop in a new fuse. Dude, you just made the world a slightly better place. THANKS!
Thank you, I'm so happy someone posted that. Same as you, I went and fixed it today. We bought fuse clips from Frys and fuses from Radio Shack then soldered the clips to the old wires that were still on the board (after clipping the burned out fuse from them) . This way if there's another failure, no soldering, just replace the fuse itself. This is really a disgrace though, that so many people have had this problem and LG will not admit that this was a design flaw...
You're right, it's a disgrace! I can't believe it's been over five years since I posted the repair. The pictures are hard to see on Amazon now so I just uploaded them here (and was surprised I could locate them so quickly). If anyone else has a problem with this take a look at the pictures, the fuse looks like it was on the bottom. Sorry, the pictures weren't of the highest quality, but this is a quick fix that will save a LOT of money on a refrigerator that is otherwise quite nice. Good luck, everyone!
deecee73 Thanks so much! With your thoughtful help post, fixed the same situation, cleaned full dust vents, so I hope that was the reason behind the blown fuse. The Lg web sight says Make a repair appointment. Saved a load of food

Well I have the same LG model that is 1 year 11 months old - I figured I'd hit the LG refrigerator expiry date until I found this post. I tested the fuses and the larger of the two fuses (120 V 15A) was indeed blown (not visually but failed continuity tests). I took a chance and jumpered the fuse with alligator clips and it all came alive. Of course this is not recommended but saved the food from spoiling until I can get to Radio Shack tomorrow. Thanks for the tips - saved me a big warranty hassle and expense.
