The best place to look for what CPU chip your computer uses is the bios. XP should have automatically detected this unless you are hot chipping and hot shipping is not recommended.

You need to install the driver of your printer that works with the operating system of your northgate computer. The driver is in the CD/DVD that came with your printer.

you can download drivers directly from the manufacturers website or you could use a software application to search for the driver automatically and you can download and install them from your computer like Driver Magician .
try taking the ram chip out then see if thats the prob by turning on the computer without it if its not, try unhooking the cd drive and then try turning on the computer if thats not it then try unhooking the hard drive and check if thats it one of those should be the problem i had the same prob but i messed with the ram chips and it worked i just took it out started it up and it worked if thats the prob just start it up then shut it down and put the ram chip back in and it should be fine
I just Googled modem drivers and came up with several. Among them were driverforum.com and driverguide.com where people will send you files you need. If your machine has the same kind of modem that mine came out with it is a HSP56 MR by PCtel.Inc. I use Belarc Adivsor to tell me what all the files are on my computer and it said that was my modem. If I can find my modem drivers i would be willing to email them to you. I have no paper manual except the Motherboard one that came with this machine. It is a SYNTAX S651M www.syntaxusa.com .
the best thing for you to do is take the side off your desktop pc and look at the motherboard make and serial number and also look at northbridge and southbridge chipsets (the square looking chips) and make a note of tyhe make also.
When you have the details either post back or search yourself, as Northgate are only a pc builder and not a manufacturer.
