VGA Support for Polaroid TV

I purchased a small Polarid LCD TV back in 2003 (approx 15" diagonal). My daughter asked if if she can hook her laptop to it via VGA to use it as a monitor. Unfortunately the TV is at my daughter's college and she forgot to write down the model. Maybe you'll know from it's age which model it is (clearly a pre-HD model).
The TV has a tilt pedestal and side speakers.

SOURCE: POLAROID FLM-2011 REMOTE CODES

My cox remote guide lists for the Polaroid TVs the following codes:
LCD TVs: 1276 and 1316
TVs: 0765, 0865, 1276, 1314, 1316, 1326, 1327, 1328, 1991, and 1992

I hope one of them works.

1) Take the foot off the stand and with a long philips screwdriver remove the single screw that is at the top of the leg (inside leg). Then with the tv facing down lift straight up on the leg.
2) remove the two screws comming from the back of the tv along the bottom edge.
3) With the tv face down on a soft surface ( towel, bedspread, ect).
4) Be carefull with this step it this tv gave me some difficulty and I am experianced with this proceedure. Too much pressure or forcing it too hard will break your case. The back of the tv has a lip which inserts into the face.The face has tabs that lock into slots in the lip of the back. Carefully pry between the face and back pannel (I used my thumbnail and a 1" plastic putty knife.) and slide along the seam until the locking tabs pop loose. Continue sliding your instrument along the seam until all tabs are loose.
5) The back of the tv lifts off of the face leaving all electronics in the face of the tv.

That gets you into the tv. what you do from there is up to you, Good luck;)

check your LCD inverter maybe there is loss connection or some parts damage from inverter.

Press the power button on it. That usually helps. In case you're wondering it's the bottom button on the right-hand side (The TV's left.)

How to Hook Up a Laptop to a LCD TV by VGA cable?

First of all check out does both the LCD tv and laptop both have vga cable input socket This is the most important step, as it will allow you to buy the right equipment.
VGA cable is the standard 15-pin connection that you would use to connect a monitor to a PC or laptop. Use a VGA cable to connect your laptop's VGA output with the television's VGA input. Use separate audio connection with mini-jack (3.5 mm) to RCA adapter.
Turn on your devices. Once you've made the connections, turn devices on. Switch your TV to the input mode that corresponds with the input you used to connect your laptop, and you should now view your laptop on your LCD TV.

No picture on lcd while trying to connect laptop

Use a different vga cable if that doesn't work change the settings on your laptop video output. If yo are not getting a signal from any input main board needs to be replaced to my knowledge most places only refurbish the main board or whole module. they usually ask you to send yours in before they send out a refurbished on.

on your laptop keyboard, Hit the function key+ f8 to toggle between laptop screen and monitor. If not f8 then there should be a pic of monitor or crt/lcd.
