Model PTC153B50AM no longer heats

The heater relays (little black boxes marked "heater 1" and "heater 2" on the circuit board are known for going out. $100 will buy you a new circuit board, or you can order the relays from Digi-Key for $4 apiece if you are willing to solder them in yourself.

My amana ptac is not heating....the code "np" is displayed....how do I correct this...we just installed the unit and know little about operation. Thanks

I don't see this error code in the manual. I do see nP as an error code for Window Switch lockout. I just had this happen to me and they had me reset the control board.

Remove case, flick master switch to OFF for 10 seconds. Press Heat/Cool same time turn switch back on HOLD until off light comes on.

You should be fixed. Just had to do this for my unit. I was playing around with the settings and turned on the window switch option by accident.

My Amana heat pump model PTH153B50AJ does not cool properly. The compressor comes on and the fan works.

This sounds like a freon problem your system probably has a leak in the system somewhere. Amana has tons of problems with there equipment. They make there coils paper thin and they split especially on a heatpump. Amana used to be a good brand and then got bought out by goodman manufacturing and have turned there product into ****. How old is this unit?

Dryer is not heating up. yesterday the dryer would not turn on, the black wire on the cord had burned in half. bought a new cord, dryer turns on but no heat. circuit breaker was not tripped. turned it off...

These are pretty simple to fix. Take the service panel off and check the heater elementthemobilian_1392.jpg
The limits and element is all in one nice little bundle and only 2 screws to mess with.
Note: the control stat is mounted on the blower housing, these limits on the heater element only tripp if there is air restrictions.

I have your service manual right ova heah: Amana dryer tech service brochure

I have a new Amana PTH15E PTAC. When heat is used, sometimes is quite but sometimes sounds loud (like window AC), why?

when its quiet its the electic heat thats being used when its loud its the heating pump and the heating pump is what saves you energy and they can be a little loud when its on its normal. I work on these units at a hotel

Amana PTAC cannot be turned on.

sound like a thermister problem, however this may also be a circuit board problem, the system is controled by the outdoor board, check to see if you have a blown inline fuse in the outdoor unit, it will be under a red case in one of the wires.

Day and night heater and a/c unit heater would go

first try to pull the little white button out, it is a manual control button, and the out position is auto. If that does not work try taking off the cover, lightly hold the dial down while you adjust the settings. they are on the side of the dial, first setting is the off pos. set to 90, second is the on pos. set to 125-135. then put cover back on, while being careful not to push the button in.

Amana PTAC PTC093A35AA won't blow heat

The reset button is located behing a panel on the front of the unit that is labeled Heat Reset. If that label is gone then look around, it is a small hole, small enough for a paper clip to fit through.
That being said, I have 137 of these units in one of my hotels and have not had a single one needing to be reset. You probably are going to need a new control board kit. These can be purchased from Amana. They are $130. Make sure that you have pulled the heater coil out and inspected it first. Also, there was a recall years ago where Amana was supposed to contact and send out new voltage switches. These are the round black things that the Brown heater wires connect to on the upper and lower side of the heating coil. You should also try to replace those if you find the coil in good condition. I have had those resolve heating issues. Most of the heating issues were a result of a bad relay on the control board though.
Please remember to rate this fix.

Heater not blowing hot air display says lo

when the coils freeze up , from intake of outside air, when using the heat pump mode, the unit will try to defrost the coils before going back to heat mode. mine did this alot. does it kick back to heat after a few mins? also after 2 years , mine started having issues with the exhaust blower control and would go into warp mode and bang noise.seems like common issues for this unit.whether the amana, or haier version.
