Asking for admin password

I have acer aspire 5100 - I'm trying to get the laptop to factory settings, I pressed f8, am able to go through with some questions, then it ask me for admin password ... the computer doesn't have a password? Does it have a normal password to get into the hard-drive?

There use to be on computers in the restore to reset to factory settings, how come they did away with that? It made it so much easier to restore a computer...urgh...

Any help would be appreciated...

    I try that, it says:

edit windows boot options for: microsoft windows vista

    path: \windows\system32\winload.exe

    partition:2
    hard disk: 301101f

    [ /noexecute=optin

    at bottom left it says
    enter=submit

I hit enter and windows just starts up ...

I've done this like 10 times today, and windows just starts up each time ...I can't get the option to show up to restore ... I think it should show 2 options and it shows one ...

When I did the f8 - it had me do a repair, and well, I get to a point it ask for a password ... and I can't move any further ...

    Perform a system recovery:
Does not come with recovery cd's - there is a program that allows you to burn the disks or
    recover.
    3 ways:

    1. If in Windows - Start - Programs - Acer empowering technology - Acer E-recovery management -
click on Restore at bottom then "Restore to factory default settings"
    2. Or click on Burn disks instead of restore
    3. if unable to ge into Windows then Alt/F10 during boot right after Acer splash screen on startup

The experience that I forgot Windows password happened to me a few weeks ago. And my classmate recommends me to take use of Windows Password Recovery 6.0, which is very smart and just take me a short time to reset a new password. It is great and you can find it by clicking blue words。

If you happen to forgot windows password, you could enter into safe mode (F8 when booting up) to reset windows password while you didn't remember user account password, but when you forgot administrator passwords, there's no way to change it, you should use program to recover administrator password. Last week, I forgot my Windows admin password. At last, I used Windows Password Seeker to reset the Windows password successfully. It's worth a try.

Do not worry when you forgot windows 7 admin passwords. I realize a quick method to recover windows login passwords, it need no computer skills and no reinstalling windows. A program called Windows Password Reset 9.0 can help you. Search Windows Password Reset 9.0

I think you have to make a rest disk with windows password recovery tool. Burn a boot CD with the program, and insert it into the problem computer and your password will be reset to “Blank”, without losing any data and you needn't reinstall windows OS. You can download it from http://www.windowsloginrecovery.com

The first thing which you check if you forget login password. When we install Windows, it automatically creates an account “Administrator” and sets its password to blank. So if you have forget Your user account password then try this:
Start system and when you See Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press ctrl+alt+del keys Twice and it’ll show Classic Login box. Now type “Administrator” (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from “Control Panel -> User Accounts”.
Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.
Windows XP and further versions also provide another method to recover forgotten Password by using “Reset Disk”. If you created a Password Reset Disk in Past, you can use that disk to reset the password. To know more about It, please visit http://www.recoverwindowspassword.com/

Acer aspire 5100 won't start

I don't what to say about that. I have never come across that problem before. Have you tried pressing F8 as soon as you turn it on? Have you put a windows disc in to see if it will boot from the disc? The only info I could find on PXE is at this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preboot_Execution_Environment Maybe you can get a better idea of what it is and how to fix it if the options above do not work. Good luck.

I'm locked out

What operating system are you using? If Windows XP, try booting into Safe Mode (Press the F8 key before Windows starts). You may be able to use the Administrator account. Sometimes the Admin account does not have a password associated with it. Once you get in, you can use the User Accounts Control Panel to change the password on your account (this all assumes that you are using a local profile and not a server profile). Give that a try and let me know if you have success.
