A condenser mic. requires "phantom power" usually supplied by a mixing desk. Without this, there will be no output signal from the mic.

This is a USB microphone, the power is provided by the USB bus.

Try going into windows settings, with the mic connected, see if you can find it that way, then set it as default.

I purchased a R31S Samson Microphone and it cant be detected when i plug it in to my computer microphone jack. What is it to do?

A dynamic mic connected to the your computer's mic jack is an analog connection. So your computer won't give a notification that there's a mic connected. However, you can view input levels through the default windows mixer of your sound card or any program or application installed on your computer that has the capability. Had it been connected through usb or firewire, it would be digital and you wold be notified that the device had been detected via device drivers etc.
Hope this helps

Need to connect to a sound blaster live sound card for recording using sonar as recording program. hace had it in storage for sometime and can't remember what went where

This particular mixer offers a usb (2 channel connection) that can be simply plugged into the computer usb 2.0. These channels should be available in Sonar from the channel Input/output drop boxes. You may need to restart Sonar, the mixer or both for them to be recognized. You may also need to run the Wav Profiler in Sonar. Typically the Wave Profiler is found in the Options>Audio menu but may be different on each edition of Sonar. The above info is for Sonar 7.

If you are wanting to record several channels at once then I would recommend connecting your Mixer's Direct Outputs from each channel to a corresponding input of the soundblaster if your soundblaster supports multiple channels. And then use the usb outbut from the Sonar to monitor the computer playback of your master stereo channel. Or, you may connect the soundblaster outputs to unused channels of the mixer or to the tape return or auxilary inputs to monitor the computer playback on the mixer.

Alternately you can send the signal to your soundblaster via the buss outputs. This will limit the number of simaltanious output channels to the number of busses on the mixer, but you can send any mixer channel to any buss without unplugging the instruments or mics.

Here's the link to the page where you can download the free pdf manual for this mixer. Page 14 explains the output connections and has diagrams.

You can probably solve your problem by plugging your mic into a powered usb hub, then plug the hub into your computer.

No live sound using Samson CO3U and Windows 7 x64

I don''t think you can solve this problem. The problem is that the computer has to digitize the incoming audio, then echo it out. This conversion takes time and is also governed by the real time clock servicing of the devices. You could try upping the priority of the conversion process, but I don't think you are going to be satisfied with the result either.

You would be happier to use a mic and external mixer where the audio is true real time rather than having the conversion latency time.

Cannot record both mic and electric guitar in daw

Disagree with previous post. The GTrack is designed to record vocals and a mono insrtument at the same time. That's its main selling point. It should also allow monitoring of both the vocals and guitar alongside the playback from the computer. In your computer's Control Panel, go to sound preferences, select the usb microphone and click on advanced tab. It is likely yours is set up to record 1 channel at CD quality - this is how many ship for some reason. Set it to 2 Channels CD quality.
In Sonar, set your track input as USB Left for the vocals, and USB Right for your guitar.

Sonar LE: no playback b/c "NO MIDI OUTPUT" selected

You have to go in to the Sonar configuration and select what the default MIDI and WAV input and output devices are. That is usually handled by the ASIO driver. In your case you would select the USB mic for input, and for output you need to select your sound card. For midi you need to configure the midi controllers and the software synth or soft instrument you are using.
If you need any more detailed help I need to know what version of Sonar LE it is and what sound card. I am guessing it detected the mic and just needs the output device configured as I mentioned.

Imac-samson-gtrack mic compatability

From the Samson Audio website...

"Ideal for the traveling musician or the project studio, the G-Track ships with a desktop mic stand, swivel stand mount, USB cable and all the cables needed to connect any musical instrument with a standard 1/4" or RCA output. The G-Track ships with Cakewalk's Sonar LE and works brilliantly with Apple's GarageBand."

If it states that it works with GarageBand, I would say that it would work on a mac.

Can not record vocal and guitar at the same time

The monitoring switch should not affect the recording at all. Maybe you have a defective mic?

Does it record from the line input if you set it to Line In mode?

Problem with Samson CO1U

Here are some instructions relayed from someone who was able to fix a similar problme with help from Samson tech support:

The C01U is a WAV device. Therefore, adjusting the slider for your default MIC input level on the volume control applet does not adjust the gain on the C01U. You access the actual volume control for the C01U as follows:

Start, Settings, Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices
Click on Audio tab.

Under "Sound Recording", insure that Default Device is selected as Samson C01U.

Once Samson C01U is selected as Default Recording Device, click on the Volume button just below the name. A new window will pop up, with a vertical slider. This window will be labelled "WAVE IN", however it actually does control the MIC volume for the C01U.

The key here seems to be that the USB device that represents the Microphone input (as far as Windows is concerned) is not a traditional microphone, but (as mentioned above) a WAV-IN device.
