Question about HTC G1
I’m really hoping someone here can help me. I’m made a royal mess of my Roger’s Dream and can’t seem to figure it out. Sorry for such a long post, but I’ve been trolling around for the last 2 days and have tried everything I can thing of.
Here’s the deal:
I tried to root my phone, and somewhere along the line ended up loading the T-Moblie Rom, instead of a Rogers rom, and lost my root access in the process. Since then the phone has updated and I am now running 1.6. I really want to get rid of the T-moblie Rom and reload it with the stock Rogers one, but I can’t seem to get make any head way.
I do have a nandroid backup of my phone but when I try to launch the BootLoader (Power and camera button), all get is multicolored screen with the following:
DREA210 PVT 32B
Sep 2 2008
I’ve tried reloading RC29, and several others from here, but they all end up generating “00028002 not allowed” errors.
If I try and boot in Recovery Mode, instead of getting the 3 skate boards, I get the triangle and dream picture. Any Update.zip files that I try to install here tell me that they failed because the signature isn’t verified.
Is there any way to undo this mess? I’ve got access to another “virgin” phone if that’s of any help.
If you had come here and said "I am going to Root my phone, any advice"? All of the Experts here would have shouted DON'T DO IT!
Rooting programs are written by amateurs, and unfortunately you have seen the result. You have altered the firmware which is the hard written instructions for the phone to boot, much like the BIOS in a computer.
We see your problems on a weekly basis. My standard reply is "don't Root your phone unless you want a paperweight". You now own a paperweight. Buy a new phone, learn the lesson.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
