Dell Precision 340 Minitower Power issue

Hi,
I have a Dell Precision 340 Minitower desktop. All was working and the hard drive gave me problems. I chenged the cable and then I am not sure what I did and now the power switch does not work. Power Green LED on the motherboard turns on, the Power supply fan revs up when I place the Power cord in, but the switch does not start the machine up. I changed the HD cable again. I have removed everything except the motherboard and power supply, but still the switch does not power up the machine. I have doen it with case opena nd with case closed.
Can I bypass the power switch and turn on the mmachine merely by inserting the power cord? Any jumpoers would allow me to do that?
Many thanks and regards

The panel cable for power led has not been pluged to the right jumper pin.
firstly you pluged the panel cable for the power led to the wrong jumper pins.
secondly, find the right junper pin for power led and plug, find the panel cable for the power led, plug the panel cable for the power led to the right jumper pins.
i mean unplug the panel cable for the power led from where pluged, search for the right pins and plug to them then the power switch will control the power on and off.

Hi
First things first:
1) You just change the power on button for other, on Radio Shack they have it.
2) cables that came from the motherboard to the ON/OFF SW. you have to soldering with the new Power Button, thats it. very easy task! you can use any power botton to fix this.
good luck

What is the max hardrive for a dell precision 340

Hi!

As of our current technology ALL Motherboard can support the most biggest hdd capacity which is 2TB (Terrabyte). You can even use a 10 TB single hdd on your motherboard if you have one.

Regardless of brand and model it will still be the same.

Cheers~

Dell 340 will not recognize my cd or dvd drive.

check if you see any light on the drive, if yes. then the power is there and then the problem is with the data cable of the cd drive. try to repalce the cd drive with another cd drive. if it still doesnot work and if the same cables work with the hard drive, then the cd drive has gone bad. and if the new drive also doesnot work then reinstalling the operating system should fix the problem only and only if it appears in the bios. if it doesnot appear in the bios. then the problem is not of the operating system. then its the motherboard.

Dell Precision 340 will not boot past the bios

It is possible that one of the drives are causing the proble. Disconnect all drives Hard drives, CD, DVD, BLUERAY,Floppy etx and turn the system on if it boots then shut it down and connect the drives one at a time until you find the one at fault.. If this fails then the problem resides in the main board itself, YOu said you cleard the cmos, try reseating the processor (removing and then putting it back) then flashing the bios (clear the cmos) ,, if that fails then you may need to replace the mainboard.
