When I try to couple the BH-218 to my Garmin i press the ]as in the manual but only get voive prompt on or off, the coupling mode does not seem to function.

My guess is you don't have the headset in pairing mode. The instructions below are from the instructions for the BH-218"
Before using the headset, you must pair and connect it to a compatible phone.
1. Make sure your headset is switched off and your compatible phone is on.
2. If you've never paired the headset with a device, or you've cleared the pairings,
switch the headset on.
If you've previously paired your headset with another device, press and hold the multifunction button
for 5 seconds.
Pairing mode is switched on, and a blue indicator light starts to flash quickly.
3. Within 3 minutes, switch Bluetooth on in your phone, then set it to search for
Bluetooth devices. For details, see the user guide of the phone.
4. On your phone, select the headset from the list of found devices.
5. If asked, type in the passcode 0000.
When the headset is connected to a phone, the Bluetooth indicator light flashes
slowly.
You can pair your headset with 8 phones, but you can only connect it to 2 phones at
the same time.
With some phones, you may need to make the connection separately after pairing.
Tip: Can't connect the headset to a compatible phone? Make sure that the headset
is charged, switched on, and paired with the phone.

Is this bluetooth compatable with ps3? If so how do you prepare it for the ps3

yup... Start with your headset turned OFF.Press buttong for about 6sec. Release when light flashes red and blue. Now your ready to pair.
On your PS3 under "Settings" tab go to "Accessory Settings" then "Manage Bluetooth Device" while your headset is under pairing mode follow onscreen instructions and let PS3 find your device. Then follow the prompts.(usually the default passkey for all brands is 0000)

hope that helps...

I go to set up my wireless headset with my playstation 3 but it won't pick up any devices.

You must put both the PS3 and the Backbeat into pairing mode. See your instruction manual for the PS3 for pairing. Once you have both devices searching for each other they should pair right up.

Instructions for putting the Backbeat 903 in pairing mode:

With the headphones powered off, press and hold the Power/Pairing button until the LED indicator flashes blue and red.
Use the PS3's menu to search for the Bluetooth headphones and select 9xxBackBeat.
If prompted, enter 0000 for the PIN code/passkey.

My explorer isnt doing anything.. the led is solid blue and has been for hours.. it seems to be on, but not functioning. my evo wont even pick it up on its bluetooth search

The headset must be put into pairing mode. Once you make your phone discoverable, then put the Plantronics 230 headset into pairing mode by pressing the call control button until it flashes red and blue. If it's not flashing red and blue, then it is not in pairing mode. Here is a link for the pairing instructions for the 230 headset:

I have an Explorer 210 series. It will no longer pair

Just this morning I was able to pair this headset with my phone. Before, it was paired to my PS3. The key is to hold down the big round button on the outside until the light flashes red/blue (this is quick-pair mode) then just have your cellphone search for bluetooth devices and you're done!

How to pair the bluetooth headset to the ps3

Hi,

This is the info i got when i was looking to pair my headset with my PS3.

1. Turn your bluetooth headset on. It should flash on/off every few seconds.

2. Go to Settings > Accessory settings > Manage bluetooth devices.

3. Put the headset in "pairing mode".

4. Start to scan for the device. PS3 should pick it up. It will display the model if successful.

5. Once it's found it hit the options button. Connect the device (pairing mode) A blue icon will pop up.

6. Your headset will stop flashing meaning it has connected successfully.

7. Go back out and click on the audio device settings.

8. Input device > select "your headset". > output device > "your headset".

9. Hit the "connect bluetooth" icon. Then OK.

10. Your headset should now be successfully connected.. start talking into it to see the bar level move up and down to confirm its working.
Hope it helps.

Best Wishes,

Karlos

HOW DO I PAIR MY PS3 AND JABRA?

Make sure the headset is off and there are no flashing lights. On ps3 go to settings and look around cuz i cant remeber were it is at but look for manage devises or manage blue tooth devices something like that. You will select that and it will ask you if you want to search for devices. WAIT! First you need to put your headset in pairing mode. Hold down the side button (the one that flashes blue when it is on) and you will see it turn on and flash. DO NOT LET GO OF THE BUTTON!! KEEP IT HELD DOWN UNTIL THE LIGHT STAYS BLUE, NO FLASHING. you are now in pairing mode! Select search for bluetooth devices on your ps3 and it will begin scanning. keep your headset close to your ps3. When your ps3 finds it, it will ask for a code. Enter 0000. Thats it! ENJOY!
