Since this is in the pool/spa section, your unit is outdoors. Wind can cause this problem. Make sure all panels and covers are installed correctly. One panel off can create a chimney effect and it will blow out.
If this does not solve your problem, turn the gas OFF, clean the gas orfice with carb cleaner and a Q-Tip.
Its an ODS thermocouple. Should be fairly available. Try your local hardware store or better yet- look up a local propane company in your phone book. They'll have one. theya re the same on all the newer gas heaters.
The fuel button allows the heater to burn long enough to warm up the thermocouple. If the thermocouple doesn't sense a flame it shuts the gas valve to keep gas from building up to potentially explosive levels it the heater should go out for some reason. Do yourself a favor and replace your faulty thermocouple. It's cheaper than a new house or building.
Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.
you may have a defective gas regulator

Typically, an unvented heater or gas log cannot be converted, mostly for safety reasons and it is usually cost prohibitive. Some newer heaters come with both Natural Gas and Propane components and have to be set up one way or the either.
It would be better to sell your old heater and get one with the proper gas type.
Can you provide me with a model number?
