Maytag Neptune MAH5500BWW burn smell (doesn't appear to be hose)

After a load was finished in Our Maytag Neptune MAH5500BWW, there was a strong burning smell and when I opened the door, there appeared to be a little smoke (not steam, was washing with cold water). Husband check the belt and it's fine. Noticed some holes in the rubber in the front. Should they be there? What are other possible causes of burning smell?

If you have a maytag neptune washer that ran up until now you got your money's worth, that's the machine that put maytag out of business,if it's smoking and ripping the boot it sounds like the tub bearing is gone and you'll have to replace the washer,if it's load in the spin like marbles are rolling around in it that's the problem, but i wouldn't put a cent into that machine.

if it's loud in the spin like marbles are rolling around in it it's the tub bearing.

SOURCE: nf pops up on the screen & the washer stops

The "nf" code is a "no-fill" fault. This indicates that your washing is not getting water supplied to it, or the pressure isn't substantial enough to complete a fill. You need to, first, make sure the water supply is turned on. Second, if the water IS turned on, and you're still not getting anything to your washer, you may have a fill valve problem. The fill valve is what both your hoses connect to on the back of the machine. It can become clogged with sediment over time (especially, if you have hard water or well water). Turn the water supply off and remove both hoses from the back of the washer. Check both these hose connections for clogs in the filter screens. If they are clear, then more than likely the fill valve has gone bad. I hope this helps you.

My washing machine sounds like it still has water in it when i spin it and it smells musty

Hi

The smell usually comes when the washer is unable to drain water completely, you can run your washer at its hottest temperature setting with 1 cup of vinegar inside the unit. After this take off the bottom front panel and clean it completely, also clean the drain hose and drain pump filter, the smell should disappear after doing all this. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

I have a Maytag Neptune model # MAH5500BWW. It appears that there is still water inside the tub after completing a wash cycle. I only noticed it as I tried to get a stuck sock from the top of the tub and...

the noise you're describing is normal - there is water in a sealed balance ring on the inner tub. To get rid of the mildew and smell, leave door open after cycle and use something like Affresh or "Smelly washer" stuff monthly or more often.

Water leaks from weap hole in bottom of the plastic housing

The Maytag's have always had problems with those front door boots leaking and not draining thus leaving a bad mildew smell. What the problem probably is is that the hose that connects to the weap hole is cracked and needs replacing. I would suggest just replacing the entire boot along with the hose. The boot is a pain to replace though, it might take a tech to get it done for you. Let me know if you have any other questions and let me know if this information was helpful. Good luck.

Maytag neptune mah5500bww leaking water

Here is the solution I found that worked for me, there is a small drain hole at the bottom of the boot that is connected to a drain hose. Remove the hose and clean out to make sure that it has not become plagged. replace hose and reattach boot. Mine stoped leaking imediately.
