TROUBLE PROGRAMING I have a universal remote and I have programed it for my tv, dvd/vcr combo, but can not seem to get it to work my directv reciever. I have tried all the codes in the book and also did the code search where it runs through 300 of them. What can I do? I really need this to work. I don't have money to go and buy another remote. It is a philips universal remote model # CL034

Universal remote does not work with Magnavox combo of dvd vcr, because no dubbing button. But magnavox has many remotes that will NB884, NB559, NB677.NB627 which also works on Sharp dvd vcr combo.

Go video remote for dvd/vcr recorder combo; you program TV by 2 digit codes. press TV power down when TV is powered on; and input 11 for JVC TV, or 03 for GE TV. You can experiment any two digit codes until TV shut down, then you have just finished programing n150b remote. This also work for all LG dvd/vcr combo recorder remote such as 6711RN203A..

I am a installer for Directv and tv's that incorporate a dvd and/or vcr usually do not respond to the directv remote. Trust me I tried all the codes. I did find programming the av1 on the dtv remote for the dvd player would control the volume and on/off for the tv. Try the dvd codes rather than the tv codes. If no luck I recommend a Harmony remote which works well with combo tvs. Although expensive they are you must consider the convenience factor they provide.

all you have to do is press and hold code search when the light shows up let go of code search then press VCR and it will blink onces and let go of VCR and press OFF/ON about 50 times and then press enter onces and there you go

ok i have a sylvania tv/vcr combo, similar problem, here's how i got the directv remote (RC23 & RC32) to operate basic t.v. functions:
-First i found the code that worked for the vcr (20000 in my case).
-i programmed "AV1" to 20000, this allowed me to power the tv on/off, change the channels but not operate the volume, so...
-after plugging in the 20000 code (with the slelector switch on AV1 still):
1. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys until the
green light under the TV position flashes twice, then
release both keys.
2. Using the number keys, enter 9-9-3. (The green light
will flash twice after the 3.)
3. Press select
that allowed me to operate the t.v. volume from the remote w/ the selector switch in any position, the only thing is i have to switch to AV1 in order to power off the T.v.

Now if it was me I would go for a universal remote. Have one remote control all devices.

I know the DirecTV remote can control several devices as well. I would look up your reciever's manual and see what it says on programming the DVD player.

We're having the same problem here with the Emerson Jumbo remote and Directv, also having a problem with the Magnavox combo VCR/DVD

sharper image jumbo remote can't get it to program my philips/magnavox tv.
