For some reason the scan button on allot of HP printers doesn't seem to work.You can go thru "printers and faxes" on your "start" menu.After opening Printers look in the left column for "scanners and cameras",click it.Then your printer will come up,highlight it.Left column again,click "get pictures" and it will walk you thru the scanning process.

My HP-4215 scanning shows vertical white lines on photos. What's the deal?
You likely have debris in the scanner glass. You should be able to access the scanner and blow it out witch compressed air. If you can see the debris you can wipe it away with a lightly dampened with distilled water Q-tip.

Scan using the HP OfficeJet 4215 Printer
The problem is with Windows Vista...it does not recognize the scan button when you touch it on the scanner. There are two ways around this:
Go to Programs / Windows Fax & Scan / Click new scan / click file and then click scan
OR
Go to Accessories / Paint / Cick File /click from scanner or camera / click scan

For those folks who have Windows 7...
Click start from menu (bottom left of window pane),
Click "Devices and Printers",
Click on the HP printer listed,
Click "scan a document or picture"...

CALL IT DONE!!!! Gotta LOVE Windows 7...EASY!
