Check cable. Sounds obvious but bad connections are a problem.

Check Cartridge, rebuild?

Is the print stopping or is it fading away?
Fading away a cartridge issue.

Stop printing at the same point. This may be a corrupt driver issue, reload driver. Remember to remove the printer first then reload.

Printer only prints top and bottom lines on page

All web based documents, especially bank statements, require a COLOUR cartridge, so if your cartridge is empty, it will print blank pages. Although the font may look black... it is normally NOT. Altentaively you may also need to instruct your printer to print "background images".

Color cartridge problem

The first thing I thought of when I read your message, was whether or not your replacement cartridges were produced by HP or by another company. Also, was it a brand new cartridge or a refill? While buying ink cartridges from another vendor or "recycled" cartridges may save a buck or two, you can't always rely on the quality of the printouts they produce. If this is the case, try using an HP color ink cartridge and see if that produces better print quality.

If you are using HP ink cartridges, there might be an issue with the contact between the cartridge and carriage. It's an electrical connection and if the contacts get dirty, it can affect print quality...sometimes drastically.

Unfortunately, HP.com doesn't have a web page dedicated just to cleaning these contacts. Fortunately, they included those instructions in the following document:

Replacing the Print Cartridges

When the web page opens, scroll down to the bottom of the page and locate the task, "Fixing error messages that appear after changing a cartridge". This will contain instructions on how to clean those contacts. See if this helps.

If all else fails, try going to the following web page:

Correcting Print Quality Problems

This is sort of a "catch all" web page with a large collection of print quality diagnostic and repair techniques. If you've gotten this far wtihout a solution, perhaps something on this page will help.

Good luck.

Blank pages

You might want to start by doing some general print quality troubleshooting, including printing a test page. The test page should give you an indication if you have issues with print cartridges. Also, some printers may not print at all if even one of their cartridges is empty:

Correcting Print Quality Problems

The other thing that occurred to me is that your document feeder could be pulling in more than one sheet of paper at a time, this means it would output blank sheets as well. Here's a web page that describes the problem and what to do about it:

Automatic Document Feeder Error

Hopefully the answer to your problem is available in those web pages. Good luck.

Fading cartridge problems

That printer is pretty old. Are you selecting "Best" quality when you print or is it possible that some documents are being printed in Quick Print mode (which puts less ink on the page)? If you're doing the same thing on each print job but the print quality changes, there's definitely a problem. If you're printing from web pages, the print quality may be a factor of the design of the pages. If you print two pages of a multi-page document and quality declines, you should be able to get help through Lexmark's technical support.

Light printing issue

hmmm..light printing usually comes from the original resolution of the page. Seems that if your printer is printing a core document well, but the web page is light, that means the fonts on the web page are not dense enough for your printer to do it well. My read is that your printer is doing just what it should be
