If you connect the computer to the router , it works.
That means the wired connection is OK.
Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router.
I think your network is secured and you are not typing the correct network key.
just open the router set up and check the wireless settings .

No internet or lan lights on? Tried reset, hard reset. All other lights, power, wireless, router are on and green. No lights on internet and lan connection. I have tried another wireless router and have no...

Hi there,
The LAN lights will only turn on once you have an Ethernet cable connected to it and the other end of the cable is connected to a working computer.
If you already have a computer connected to the Ethernet port of the router via an Ethernet cable and the lights are still off. Check if the computer you have connected recognizes a network via LAN.
If the lights on the router are still off and the computer doesn't recognize a network then that means that the port for the ethernet of your Router is bad and sadly there's no way of getting that fixed but to have the router replaced.
Otherwise if the lights are off and the computer recognizes the Network and lets you connect to the internet or other computers on the same network then its just the LED of the LAN light that's broken and I think you can live with that.
Hope this helps!

I am trying to get my netgear mr814v2 to connect to the internet via hard wire to comcast with no luck. the connection is good when i go direct from teh computer

If you connect the computer to the modem it works, that means the modem is working.
Now connect the modem and the computer to the router and open the router set up page.
Clone the MAC address of the computer on the router and power cycle the network.
That will work.

Top 2 lights are green, connections are all correct, and there is no internet connection to the computer. Is there a setting on the computer that I have wrong?

You need 1 more light, "Local Network". So you need to connect something, probably your computers LAN - Ethernet Port to one of the 4 ports that are together (LAN ports.)

If you are connecting USB, well that's always ugly, no cable support person will recommend that you connect a computer to a router via USB. But if you do, there's a driver software for that. Should be on a CD that you received in the package.

USB driver, no doubt, will create a virtual Network Adaptor. Then you'll get IP Automagically from this unit to your computer. The same thing should happen if you connected via LAN/Ethernet connection.

You normally don't have to set any settings, the default will be Automatic for IP Settings assignment. Which means you'll get it via DHCP protocol from this unit.

Having problems connecting a lap top computer to the internet.

Connect the router directly via lan to your computer.
goto setup of the router: usuallly via the ip-adress of your router (see manual, usually: 192.168. ***.*)
Now look at the network security-settings .

I have a desktop connected to a ICONNECT ACCESS621 ADSL 2/2+ ROUTER, how do I connect my laptop to the same modem?

The 2+2 means: Combo feature, means 2 computers can connect and access internet at the same time ( one via USB and the other via Network Port) So connect one with a network cable and the other with a usb cable.

Unable to connect to the Internet

Check to see if your wireless card is displayed under “Network Adaptors” in “Device Manager”. You can access the "Device Manager" by going to the 'Control Panel", "Administrative Tools", "Computer Management" and select "Device Manager" located in the left side column. If it is detected and there are no alerts or errors, try uninstalling the wi-fi card, reboot the laptop and reinstall the drivers.

hi pat seems your router is not configure yet for internet connection, for cable connection you must log into the setup page of the router and clone the mac address of your computer.

to do that you can call 1-877-453-5465
to have someone walk you trough the steps.

flashing lights simply means activity on your network, and you get activity when you have internet connection.

hope that helps pat.

I have recently aquired a router and a Wireless PCI Card. Although I am automatically on the internet when I boot up my Computer,I keep getting a message on screen that I have limited or no conectivity....

the limited connectivity means that your router is not connected wirelessly probably because you have not entered the correct passkey, or it's still giving your lan RJ45 network cable the ip address and this is why you are still connected to the net.

If you are on a Netgear modem/router as i suppose you are if it's from sky, you should connect the RJ11 phone line cable into the router leading to a broadband filter, then connect the filter to your phone socket.

There should be no wires between your pc and the router, so take out the wire that is connected to the router (RJ45), which you should have used to set the router up coming from your onboard wired network card.

You will now be connected only via wireless connection, right click on the wireless network icon in your taskbar, click show all connections and then click on your SKY****, whatever it is and then you will need to enter the WPA-PSK security passkey which is with your Sky paperwork or on the router itself.
