Connect any one of the computers to the router with a ethernet cable. open internet explorer, clear out the address bar on the top, and type 192.168.2.1. when u hit enter, u'll get a router set up utility. in this page u'll have an option -security- below "wireless". when u click security, it'll ask for a password, leave it blank and hit submit. on the next window, choose the option WPA/WP2, then u'll have some more options, look for PASSWORD(PSK).. put in a password which should be 8 to 63 characters long, its case sensitive. click on apply changes.

Logon to your router and go through the wireless set up to set a passphrase and turn on the encryption (WEP , WPA WPA2 etc)

to logon you need to enter the routers ip address into your web browsers address bar usually 192.168.1.1 then a username and password to logon

once set up all your other systems should detect the network and prompt you for the pass phrase.

all the details you need including the manual are here:

Running ubuntu on (old!) hp e-pc 42; need Windows. Would it be worthwhile installing Vista? How about 7? Thanks.

Based on the specs of your computer I don't recommend that you upgrade to either one of those. You would not want to use Vista because it would run really slow on your computer, and Vista itself is not very good. And if you can't run Vista, you most likely can't run Windows 7 because it requires even more than Vista.

I recommend that you use Windows XP, not only because aside from Windows 7 and Snow Leopard it is my favorite Operating System, it is also the OS that was originally shipped with that specific model computer.

Short answer: Go with Windows XP

Hope this helps!

Could not find a FATX drive to open

Are you looking for an "X-FAT" formatted drive? Windows Vista and 7 can open these. Windows XP needs an update. Mac OS X Snow Leopard can also open them.

Sometimes this problem occures when you install a later model wireless router.
Try installing the latest Wireless card driver on the XP computer and the LAN card drivers on the other computers except the MAC.

I need to turn off NAT translation on Belkin F5D7234-4 is there a way to do it without shutting off the firewall? jOHN

NAT translation makes it possible for more than one computer to "share" your Internet connection.

So, if you only have one computer, and that computer is not using a "wireless" connection, you can physically remove the router from your network., i.e., connect the DSL-modem or cable-modem directly to the Ethernet port on your computer.

Note that both Mac OS X and Windows XP/Vista/7 have a "built-in" firewall, which is enabled, and which functions just as well as the firewall "inside" the router. So, removing the router from your network does not make you any less "secure".
