Just bought a new computer with an ASUS M3A78 - CM AM2 motherboard and could not get the sound to work. I loaded the updated driver through ASUS and reloaded the driver and it worked. Came back the next day and the sound does not work now. So I reloaded the driver again and it still does not work. Can anyone help me out there. Thanks

is this windows 7 32-bit OR 64-bit
you will need 64 drivers for all your hardware if you have migrated from a 32 to 64 bit operating system.
Windows7 64 bit still has some major bugs with certain sound cards.
Asus has updated drivers available at thier website, but they dont have them for all hardware, just the most current.
Hope this helps, post again if i can answer any more questions..
Regards!
Try removing the new card, booting into BIOS, change your video setting the slot of your card: I believe your card is PCI-E, save changes and exit. When it starts to reboot, turn the computer off, install the new card and then try rebooting again. You may also have to boot into Safe Mode\Uninstall the original video driver or disable that video component and then try rebooting your system.

AMDFan, update to the most recent BIOS and that should fix the problem. It fixed death88scyth's issue, I see no reason as to why it won't fix it for you.
This is the Asus site for Windows Vista drivers for your board; if you are using a different o/s then you can change it on the top of the page & it will list the drivers for that o/s. Hope this helps & please take a moment to rate this solution fixya. Thanks. http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
