Cannot find my router name and password D-link dsl 2640R

But if it changed DO THE following

DSL routers don't need any firmware nor device-drivers.

do you mean your password for logging into the router itself or the key to access the wireless network? both can be reset by finding the tiny reset button somewhere on the router itself, you'll need a small pin to press it. This will however wipe out all settings on the router, and it will have to be configured again.
If the password you're looking for is to log into the router in order to configure it, when you reset the router, that password will be restored to its factory default, every router is different, but they all have the default user name and password listed in the manual that came with the router, if you no longer have the manual you can download a copy of it from the d-link website.

You can also configure it with below method.
Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. Then click on WAN settings set it as your internet service provider settings enable DHCP Then click on wireless and enable it. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. The password usually is the MAC address of the router and is in the outside box in a barcode like label or use Dlink emulator ->link.

Your can perform a factory reset by inserting a paper clip tip in the the small reset hole for 10 sec while powered on. You will have to configure the router fro scratch.

If you have your user name and password for the router, you can direct connect with and ethernet cord, then go to Start -> Run and type "cmd" without the quotes of course. When the faux DOS comes up type ipconfig and press enter. Find your ip address (I think the default for these routers is 192.168.1.1) open internet explorer or the like and type 192.168.1.1 into the address bat and press enter. It should prompt you for your user name and password. If you have not set one the user name should be admin and the password will be either password or admin. you can go into your router and see what your passphrase is or change it altogether.

You can put on a password for internet access for all wireless networks to prevent these strangers logging on.
