Upgraded from windows vista to windows 7 and and I am told photo explosion deluxe version 3 is incompatible with windows 7. what can be done to make it compatible?

What I understand is that your photo explosion deluxe is a windows xp software. Since it is not working readily out of the box in windows 7 then what you could do is install windows xp mode for windows 7. Windows xp mode allows xp software to be installed and windows 7. What you need to do is just download windows xp mode and install it. After which you could then install that software on there. Just make sure to uninstall your current installation of photo explosion deluxe before you do this.

You can right-click on the program's setup.exe, select properties, then compatibility and set it to windows XP
then try to install it again

If a program cannot be run under Windows 7 because of compatibility issues you have to right click on the executable file that will start the application and click Properties. Select Compatibility tab and check the Windows version you know the program worked with before, in your case Vista - i assume 32 bit. I'm Richard from SoftCity Cafe, the new home of Photo Explosion's tech support. I spoke with the tech support reps about PE 3 and its compatability with Windows 7. Unfortunately, only some aspects of the program work in Windows 7 and the recommended solution is to upgrade to version 4. I can tell you that there has been a request of the PE development team to release a patch for Windows 7 compatability, and if this is something you are interested in I would recommend leaving a message in this thread on SoftCity:

How to correct a Load MPEG VIO Driver Error in Windows Vista.

If you are experiencing this issue with Windows Vista, please follow these directions:

Note: These steps are only for Windows Vista. If you are experiencing the problem on Windows XP, please see the directions found here: KB Article 1469

1. Uninstall Photo Explosion 3.0.
2. Reinstall Photo Explosion 3.0.
3. Restart the computer.
4. Download the Vista update for Photo Explosion 3.0 from the following link:

Note: Please make sure you download the correct one for your version of Photo Explosion 3.0. If you have the Deluxe version, download the Deluxe update. If you have the regular version, download the non-Deluxe update.
5. Save the update to an easily accessible location, such as your Desktop.
6. Once downloaded, go to where the update was saved and double-click the update.
7. After installing the update, you should no longer experience this problem.

Note: It is extremely important that you do not run Photo Explosion until you have restarted the computer and installed the update. If you run the program before installing the update, you will need to start the steps over from the beginning.

Right Click the .exe file of your photo explosions deluxe and choose properties and then click on Compatibilty tab and then click on Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 1 or 2

Photo Explosion 3.0 requires: Windows 2000, XP or Vista,Pentium III or Faster ,128 MB RAM ,CD-ROM Drive .It wont work on 7

I am still not sure if they have a fix for Windows 7. I know they have brought out a version 4 which does work with Win7 but here is a link to the upgrade drivers they do have
