Many programs allow you to change the size of the page for the document you are creating. If the size of the page defined in the program is different than the size of the page set in the printer driver, the document may print too small or over multiple pages.

In the application you wish to print from, check for a 'Page Setup' option in the 'File' menu. Make sure that the defined page size in 'Page Setup' matches the printer's settings. If you are unable to locate 'Page Setup', consult the application's 'Help' files or manual.

How to shrink document to fit screen size when printing

Hi,

Scaled Printing
The procedure for specifying a scaling value and printing a document with pages enlarged or reduced to match the document to the paper size is as follows:
1. Open the printer driver setup window, and select Scaled Printing from the Page Layout list on the Page Setup tab.

figure:Select Scaled Printing for Page Layout on the Page Setup tab
2. Using Page Size, select the page size that was set with your application.
3. Do either of the following to set a scaling factor:
Select a Printer Paper Size.
Select a printer paper size, which is different from the Page Size, from the Printer Paper Size list. If the printer paper size is smaller than the Page Size, the page image will be reduced. If the printer paper size is larger than the page size, the page image will be enlarged.6c3578e0-f243-44b0-aa8e-f7bb7752ed56.jpg

Specify a scaling factor.
Directly type in a value into the Scaling box.

figure:Scaling on the Page Setup tab
The current settings are displayed in the Settings Preview on the left side of the printer driver.
4. Click OK.
When you execute print, the document will be printed with the specified scale.
Note
If the application software with which you created the original has the scaled printing function, configure the settings on your application software. You do not need to also configure the same setting in the printer driver. When Scaled Printing is selected, the Staple Side list box appears grayed out and is unavailable (when Duplex Printing is not selected). When Borderless Printing check box is checked for the Page Layout list, Scaled Printing cannot be selected.
Tip
Selecting Scaled Printing changes the printable area.

Hope this helps

Can I print on both sides of the page

Here are the instructions for duplex printing.

The duplex printing function allows you to print data on both sides of a sheet of paper.

The procedure for performing duplex printing is as follows:

1. Open the printer driver setup window, and check the Duplex Printing check box on the Page Setup tab.

2. Select Normal-size Printing (or Fit-to-Page Printing, Scaled Printing or Page Layout Printing) from the Page Layout list.

3. Specify Staple Side.

The printer analyzes the Orientation and Page Layout settings, and automatically selects the best staple position. Check the Staple Side setting. If you want to change the setting, select another value from the list.

4. If necessary, click Specify Margin... and set the Margin width.

5. Click OK.

My mother has the canon pixma mx310 all-in-one. She tried to use the scanner tonight, and it randomly didn't work (it did not long ago). It said something about maintenance and to try when it is finished....

A web search suggested thihs would be the reason for the 21140 code>

Issue: "The selected paper size is not supported by your printer..." appears after selecting the Paper Size in the printer driver.

Solution: Use Fit-to-Page Printing (Windows)

Use Fit-to-Page Printing (Windows) The Fit-to-Page function automatically resizes the image to fit the size of the page being used. Letter size image data, for example, will automatically be printed on 4" x 6" size paper. Paper sizes larger than the printer can handle will be available on the Page Setup of the printer driver but will not print unless the Fit-to-Page function is enabled. Note: The Fit-to-Page Printing function is not available when Borderless Printing is selected.
  1. Access the printing preferences by opening the printer Properties / Preferences:

    For Windows Vista
    • Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and Sound', and then click on 'Printers'. Note: If you are in 'Classic' view, Click 'Printers' directly from the 'Control Panel'.
    • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.
    For Windows XP Home Edition
    • Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel,' 'Printers and Other Hardware,' and 'Printers and Faxes.'
    • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.

    For Windows XP Professional Edition
    • Click 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Printers and Faxes.'
    • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Preferences' from the menu that appears.

    For Windows 2000/Me/98
    • Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Settings,' then 'Printers.'
    • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Properties' from the menu that appears.

  2. Click the Page Setup tab.

  3. Specify the 'Fit-to-Page Printing' settings.

    auto_resize_(windows)_2.gif

    (1) Select Fit-to-Page Printing.

    (2) Select the size of original document created in application program. Paper sizes larger than the printer can handle will be available.

    (3) Select the actual size of print media.

  4. Click 'OK'.

Hope this helps. Don't forget to vote. :)

How do i print addres on envelopes on mx310

Yes through MS Word.
Go to the file menu select page setup select the paper tab and then from the drop down menu select paper size and select envelope. If you have multiple options for envelope like envelope9, envelope10, envelope11 etc. select the envelop size that you want. The paper size of the document will change to the specified envelope size and then you can print the document normally using any printer.

This paper is used to create iron-on transfers. The image is printed inverted.
Paper Support Load Limit: 1 sheet
Paper Output Tray Load Limit:
We recommend that you remove the previously printed sheet from the Paper Output Tray before continuously printing to avoid blurs and discoloration.
Paper Thickness Lever: Right
Media Type:
Printer Driver Setting: T-Shirt Transfers

Canon mx310 feeds paper w/out printing

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

I have a Canon mx310 printer. I have read the book but can't find out if I can print on both sides of a piece of paper. If it can be done can you explain how Regards Ted gray

I just read the data on your model and it says nothing about two sided printing.
You can still print two sides of the paper with any printer. Save page 1 and page two sweperately. Either place one piece of paper into your printer or if it feeds for the front of the pile ,Just have it print side on. After that is done the the printed paper and place it back into the the front of the paper tray so that it will be the next one printed, then print side two . A slow poocess but sometimes worth it. (You may have to turn the paper around and or backwards for it to print on the correct side in the directing you desire, experiment).
