Jenn-Air JCD2389G Side by Side Refrigerator Logo
Posted on Jan 09, 2010

I have a Jenn-Air side by side frig. The freezer side cools too cold, the frig side not enough. 2 weeks ago I took all the food out of freezer and noticed ice build up on back. I unplugged unit, let it defrost overnight, and vacuumed coils in back. The next morning I plugged it back in and went to work. When I ret'd, the frig temp was 38' and freezer was making ice. I waited 2 days, then put food in again. Today, I noticed temp in frig is 48'. I don't see any ice build up. Suggestions? Model #JCD2389GES

If the freezer is staying cold it sounds like a defrost system problem. A bad timer, heater or thermostat can cause frost to build up on the coils and block air flow to the refrig side. Check out ACMEHowTo.com for troubleshooting the defroster problem.
There is a small duct between the freezer and refrigerator side if this is blocked the frig side won't cool.

Refrigerator and freezer not coming up to temperature. replaced start device on compressor what else could be the issue

Some of these brand friges have a tendency to not defrost the freezer side properly. Ice builds up behind the freezer panel thus reducing air flow to the frig side. Having replaced all parts repeatedly on my WP frig, actually two of them, and losing food repeatedly, a WP repair guy said it was unrepairable. WP is crap. Their design is crap. Many side by sides are littered with cooling problems. The defroster coil, defrost sensor, and thermostat just dont work properly. In the end, I bought a diff. brand and will never buy wp again. Keep in mind how many brands are sister brands to wp and avoid them too.

Hi!!

Check to see if the evaporator fan behind the freezer wall (remove wall) is running. If it isnt the air will not flow properly in the unit. Replace the fan motor and it will fix it.

Good Luck!!

Maytag freezer don't freeze food or make ice

There could be several things causing the frig to be cold but not cold enough. First check thermostat control and air control. Both should be set in the middle setting for normal operation.Next check to see if evaporater fan is running in freezer. It should be running whenever compressor runs and circulates cold air inside frig as well as freezer. Next check if condensor fan motor is running. It blows air over condensor coils to remove heat. Last ,check condensor itself for dirty coils. If they are matted up with hair dust, etc. it will cause poor cooling. you can give thorough cleaning with vacuum cleaner. Hope this helps

My Jenn-Air frig, model JCD2389G,isn't cooling. It's less than 7 years old. Freezer seems fine. Frig is set at coolest and still is only 55 degrees. Cleaned back of frig, what else do I check? thank you,...

Check the fan located in the freezer compartment.

This fan blows the cold air from the freezer into the fridge and is about 40 dollars for the part. Simple to fix too.

Fridge not keeping food cold.

When you open door to freezer do you hear a fan inside that compartment blowing? If you don't the fan motor is shot and will need to be replaced.

Freezer yes, refrigerator no!

Make sure coils are frosting and fan is running, if both are good the air flow is being restricted(uncommon)

Fresh Food Compartment not cold enough

check freezer for frost build up and if fan blowing, check condenser make sure clean, and fan blowing, check vents in refrig. make sure no blockage, freezer control should be in the middle setting, you can try turning that to Warmer freezer allowing MORE air to refrigertor side.
