You can eject your cd drive by inserting a needle (saftey pin, sewing, etc.) into the pin hole near the eject button.
You can also try opening my computer and right clicking the cd drive and select eject.

If media player is frozen press ctrl, alt.del (or type taskmgr.exe in Run box from the start menu) this will open task manager, in task manager under Applications select Media Player and then click End Task. This will end it let me know if it corrected the problem.

  • Anonymous Jan 09, 2010

Ok do it again and this time go to the Process tab find image name wmplayer.exe (it will show up here) then click end process.

Let me know if it worked.

  • Anonymous Jan 09, 2010

That is very odd. Have you rebooted your computer? If not do so.

  • Anonymous Jan 10, 2010

Sorry I was gone all day do you still have the problem? If so restore your computer to a date when you know yoour system worked correctly.

To do this follow the steps below

    1. Click Start go to All Programs

    2. Scroll up to All Accessories

    3. Scroll sown to System Tools and select System Restore

    4. Choose Restore My Computer To A n Earlier Date (you can always come back and select undo my last restore)

    5. Choose date for restore to complete

If this fixes your computer your all set if not this eliminates the it being a software issue and confirms your problem is harrdware related. Since your software has since gone back in time.

Hey my mac won't eject a disc. i have tried a lot of stuff and nothing happened. when i restart it the disk spins and doesn't sound stuck and when i used disk utility it said there was an error...

Resolution Tip: Make sure the CD or DVD disc is not in use. Quit all applications that are using files on the disc.
  1. Press the Media Eject key at the top-right corner of the keyboard.
  2. If that doesn't work, drag the disc's icon to the Trash.
  3. If that doesn't work, restart the computer, then hold down the mouse button or trackpad button while the computer is starting up, until the disc is ejected.
To restart, choose Restart from the Apple menu.

My dv 3 was originally running Vista-64, however because off the huge number of bugs I was encountering I decided to upgrade the OS to Windows 7 32-bit. It runs like a dream and ha been a nearly flawless...

There are some items that will need to be updated to the new OS. I am including a link to HP's website. I would look at the driver section (there is new drivers for the quick launch), and the software solutions. In fact since these will be the most updated driver and software patchs for Windows 7, I would probably download most of it. Hope this helps and fixes the glitches you seem to be having.

Check if you can see a small hole on the media drive or optical drive. Use a paper clip to manually eject the disc.

Hope this can resolve your concern.

"Dell Media Direct" on Inspiron 1525

Make sure you do not have a bootable CD or DVD in the drive. If that does not resolve, then try holding the "home" (Media Direct) button while pressing the Power button on.

Dell studio touch keys won't work. the eject button stays lit and none of the media keys above the keyboard work when this happens.

Shut down your computer, remove AC power, remove the battery for about a minute. Put the battery back in, hold the power button for 30 seconds. This should reset it.

Dell System DV051 Not working prop. after storm

I believe this is due to Media Direct requiring a 2G hidden partition and entries in the MBR. As I understand it you have to boot from the Media Direct disc first for it to recreate the partition assuming it has been deleted then install your OS. If you do not want the Media Direct then you should be able to use the OS disc recovery console to repair the MBR.
