Thank you for the quick response! I just meassured the D401 and obtained a 85.5 K Ohms, 0.002 V, and a 0.001 A or 1 mA. As far as the IC301 the resistances are giving a good measurement (dont have the value of them yet), but I noticed two of the legs for the LM3886TF chip (IC Audio amp chip) are discolored black, this legs are according to the datasheet number 6 and 7 (GND, NC), could this be the problem?

Ok, would that be CN301, CN302, or CN101 plugs?

Hi,
If power transformer T1 got shorted or its output voltage got shorted for some reason, fuse will blow in Sony SA-WMSP1 active subwoofer.
Check power transformer, D401 bridge rectifiers and IC301 power amplifier out chip. Any of them is bad.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Check continuity of primary of power transformer, that should not show very low ohms.
Unplug transformer secondary plug from circuit board, put fuse in circuit and plug the wire in AC, does fuse blow again? if yes, transformer is bad and if not, then output chip is gone.

    I just replied your question.

  • Anonymous Jan 08, 2010

Oh ok, I was incorrect about secondary connectors as transformer secondary pins are soldered in PCB, remove solder from pins and do the test.
Your question was premium few minutes before and now I see it as free, what happened with it?

No power from adapter

http://www.fixya.com/uploads/images/B503A3B.jpg

If you have a volt meter, you can check the output of the adapter to see if it has any output. Then you'll know for sure. You can definitely buy a new one. Online purchase would be cheapest.
The other option is to fix it. If it is the AC adapter, the problem is most certainly a blown fuse. You can replace the strange looking fuse with any 2.5A, 250V one. They may have one at Radio Shack.

Blew a fuse what kind dose it take is it a slow blow fuse or fast blow one,i took out the old fuse and it reads le.3a/250v is it a 3a or .3a

It is a 3A/250V fuse, also known as a 6A/125V fuse.

Power amps generally have slow blow fuses.

6.3a slow-blow 125v fuse

Hi, If the fuse physically fits into your unit then it will work. However- - - WARNING! Although 6.3 amps on a 250v fuse will allow the current to flow it will not afford you the circuit protection you require for a 125v circuit. If the circuit develops a fault then there is a danger that you burn out the circuit before the fuse. As you have already blown one fuse I would suggest tracking down the fault before you do any thing else.

Fuse blown

the fuse will always blow if there is a shorted component. the horizontal output transistor may be the most likely culprit, if you are not a technician, have it service by a qualified one.
