We have a Hotpoint RB787 Electric Kitchen Range. We experienced electrical issues/ power surge and now the oven part of the stove does not work. top still works and only indicators for the top burners function. middle part of indicators/lights(clock, oven temp..ect) does not work and oven does not heat up. Do you think we just need to replace something or is the stove junk??

You will need to replace the control board that contains the clock readout, any power surges ruins these electronics instantly, this can be replaced by removing the rear cover on the back of the unit and remove screws securing the electronic module

change control board and temp censor

How large a breaker do i need for this stove.? model rb787 50 amp is what i have now with 10 gauge wire

The recommended breaker for any electric oven isd 40 amps, though you could probably get away with a 30 amp breaker. Personally, I would go with the 40 amp breaker.

While baking in my Hotpoint electric stove I pressed the oven light button to check on the biscuits and a code of F2 came up. What doe this mean?

this code usually means that the oven temperature is too high.

Is the oven working ok? Does the temperature seem to be correct? Did the code go away? If not,you can try shutting the breaker off to the range for a while and see if it resets. if not make sure that your oven is not getting too hot.

you could have a bad temperature sensor or possibly a bad control panel.

check that you have 240 volts at the wall also ensure that it is wired correctly the oven elements run on 240, if the voltage is ok you may have a bad board
