Samsung DLP HL-R5667W not turning on. Showed

Samsung DLP HL-R5667W not turning on. Showed purple spots on screen so I shut off and unplugged as this has worked in the past. TV will not turn on as of last night. This is the 4th time this has occurred. Usually, I can get the TV to turn back on eventually after unplugging and letting it sit overnight... Does the lamp need to be replaced or the DMB Board?

Lamp light will blink a few times in the front and then it will eventually turn to stand-by mode when I try to turn it on. If I hit the power button before it goes to stand-by mode, the timer light in front will blink on.

Help!!

So do I need both the light engine and the lamp? Looking like I should probably just get a new TV for that cost... Think I'm done with Samsung if this is the case.

  • Anonymous Jan 08, 2010

I will do that. Just so I'm clear, do I need to replace the light engine, the lamp, the ballast board or the DMB Board? Light engine looks like a $1000 item from PartsStore but I'll check ebay as well.

I'll give that a try first. Much less $$. Thank you!

Working fine when I got home today. Looks like the mirrors get stuck when this happens which causes me to see the purple dots. So what would cause the mirrors to stick like that? And why does it seemingly go away for awhile and then suddenly appear?

TV is on now and looks fine so I'm questioning the lamp... Just trying to rationalize with the small amount of knowledge I have on the subject. I don't want to waste $$ on parts only to end up paying $1000+ parts to fix a TV I paid $1200 for. Too many options out there now new for that price ya know?

Start with replacing Lamp First FOX has OK deals on Lamps $109.00 up 1-800-227-5369

    Look on E-Bay.

Lamps/ Last between 5,000 up to 8,000 hrs and some dont last as long as 5000 hrs So see if you can find cheap Lamp on E-Bay for Backup, remember every hour the set plays the lamp dies that means if you are not watching it turn it off. Alot of people fall asleep leaving TV on as a Normal set, these sets are not like projections it doesnt matter if you let them play day and night, they have 3 picture tubes. If set is playing now just keep watch on it when you play it.

Hello, are there any sounds coming from your television? If something happened to the colorwheel I dont think the TV would come on at all, I would by instinct take a look at replacing the DMD chip.

Samsung DLP turns on and off - cycle repeats

make sure put the lamp door back before trying to turn it on because they have switches on them that allow the tv to turn on. If that is ok you probably have a bad ballast.
Call a local tv repair shop to further diagnose the problem.

Samsung HL-r5667w TV shuts down on its own.

You may have a colorwheel going bad. The bearings start going out and this is an indication of the failure. The colorwheel is located in the light engin e therefore you may want to get a qualified tech to look at it

Samsung DLP TV HL-R5667W shuts off intermittently

Afraid there is no simple answer to this. This set has multiple things that could shut it down, one may be the balest needs a upgrade , this could be why it seems to be eating lamps. Another is what sounds like a fan is a color wheel , these have known problems of failing, and when this happens sometimes they shut down the set. And finaly does the set have good ventalation, overheating can cause huge problems with this set
