Suddenly no connectivity after months of service

I've been using this belkin router for 6 months on my XP pcs. now, i lose my internet connection as soon as i plug in the cable between router and modem. as soon as i unplug the wired cable between router and modem, the connection is just fine.
if the router is not plugged into the modem, all lights are on the modem. when the router is plugged in, all lights are on except internet on the router.
so far i have:
-checked the cables, all fine
-checked the router on another computer, works fine
-reset factory settings and reinstalled ware
-power cycled about 1000 times
-gone to the 192.168 page and tried to check settings, all seem OK but still get "no internet" status
-called my ISP. Their response was "don't use the wireless router, since it affects your service."

i am not sure where to go from here. if you have any suggestions I'd love to hear.
thank you

Step 1 : Check the IP Address of the Computer

Step 2 : If it is in the Range of the Router ( 192.168.2.x)

Step 3 : Try typing 192.168.2.1 on the address bar of internet explorer

Step 4 : If not working Hard reset the router by inserting a paper clip into the reset hole on the back of the router

Step 5 : If the IP Address is any public address or 169.254.x.x then also do step 4

Have you gotten the latest driver for the Belkin? How far is the Belkin from the router. Use the cable and base with the Belkin and put it as close to the ceiling as you can. If the router is on the floor or on the desk, relocate it to a higher location.

Losing connection

When the phone is ringing or in use, it is interupting the router signal. You should be able to avoid any interference with your router by changing the channel on your phone. If that doesn't help, you'll have to go thru the router setting and change the channel on the router. Try the phone though, thats the easiest fix. Good Luck to you!

Lost contact between PCs connected via AP

Set all the PC's to have a manual IP rather then using the DHCP from the router.
Also set the Gateway and Preferred DNS on the network cards to the routers IP (IE 192.168.0.1)

Belkin Mimo Router

If you're connected to the router with excellent stregth then the problem most likly lies in the routers connection to the internet. Check your DSL, Cable modem and make sure the connection to the "Internet" port on your router is good. Try switching out the Ethernet cable if nessciary.

F5D7230-4 Router won't support >1 wired ethernet connections

My first suggestion would be to shutdown the modem, router, and XP PCs. Then power up the modem, router, then PCs (in that order) pausing about 20 seconds between powering each unit.
Good luck.

have you tried turning off Wireless Zero Configuration

Go to Start | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services

Scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration, right clicking properties, and Stopping the service in Service Status.

Do this on all the Pcs,

If this solves the problem, turn off Wireless Zero Configuration permanently by changing Startup type to Disabled
