Canon MP530 U052 Error

The printer carritage is new, however, I'm kept getting the U052 error and cannot print. Is the printer computer chips damaged? How to solve this problem? Please help.
Many many thanks.

Exactly the same problem. Despite repeated reinstallation of print head and ink cartridges I keep getting the U052 error telling me I have the wrong type of printhead. It's brand new - straight out of the box.....

canon printer MP530 has error "check cartridge U052"

    How to solve it.

  • ChristineJ92 Mar 05, 2009

My MP530 was working fine with the last set of cartridges that I had. The problem started when I put in the new cartridges. That is when the U052 error first showed up. At first I assumed it was the cartridges, but

I ordered a second set of cartridges and the same thing happened. I checked the owner's manual and found that this error indicates that the print head needed to be cleaned, but the machine would not let me follow through with the instructions for this. No matter what I pushed, it just beeped. I have now ordered a new print head. I will see if that does the trick and post the outcome. I hope that works.

The dreaded U052 error means that the 'chip' fitted to the Cartridge is not responding .. Canon (like all printer mfgs) makes all it's profit from selling Ink .. so they fit these chips to try to prevent you refilling or using a 'compatible' replacement cartridge

You have to move the chip from the Canon cartridge to the 'compatible' and (it seems) the chips are particularly sensitive to static / damage .. many people end up blowing the chips during the swap over .. or even when fitting the original genuine cartridges to a brand new unit for the first time ...

If the unit is brand new, take it back and demand a replacement ... if you have just swapped over the chip onto a compatible cartridge, you can try buying a genuine Canon cartridge (which will have a new chip) = hopefully that will do the trick

NB. I have seen some suggestions that canon's have a 'Service Mode' that allows you to disable the cartridge chip checking and allow you to print no matter what .. however I've never found any details ... perhaps some-one else has the details ??

The problem has to do with the print head, not the ink cartridges. I got this problem last week. It came without any change of ink tanks or anything. Working fine one day, error u052 the next day. Tried all sorts of button combinations - no joy. Tried changing to new ink tanks - also didn't work.

I had actually bought a replacement laser printer already, and decided I had nothing to lose (except the $100-odd stash of non-original replacement ink I had bought). I resorted to an old trick I learnt back in the days when print heads got clogged regularly. I removed the print head and soaked it in running water for about ten minutes until there was no more ink flowing out, then dried it thoroughly. Then I reinstalled the print head and inserted my previously installed ink tanks.

Believe it or not, IT WORKED! No more u052 error! I know it's not the ink tanks because when you turn on the printer with the print head installed but without the ink tanks you get a u051 error. I think the problem was just a clogged printhead.

Now I have to figure out what to do with an extra laser printer...

Just to prove that it worked, I'm posting a picture of the LCD screen!Canon MP530 U052 Error - limsoonbeng_0.jpg

Replace the print head. They wear out. Be sure to buy the correct one for your printer. I've had several different canon printers (most recently the PIXMA MP530 with this problem). After several trips to the authorized repair when they charged me for a new print head along with the service tech time, I've learned to replace it myself.
The printer is working just fine now.

Errr u052 cannot print .

A lot of Canon printer's users come across with the error message, "U052 This type of print head is incorrect." It is a very common error on Canon printers and is fairly easy to troubleshoot.

There are two different scenarios related to U052 kind of error message. One is where the print head is not installed at all and then it is giving the 'U052 This type of print head is incorrect' error message.

And, the second scenario is where the print head is installed nut it is not functioning properly or probably not working at all. The below section will show step by step troubleshooting of both the scenarios.
