This sounds like your Defrost drain is cloged. Do not chizel the ice. use hot water or a hair dryer to remove the ice. Now your either going to be lucky or a little unlucky. look at the back bottom area of the freezer and look for a hole the size of a dime. This is the defrost drain if you see it. If you don't then you will need to pull the power plug from the machine and remove the back wall of the freezer to find the drain. Then you can defrost the ice and then pour hot water down it the defrost that ice and get the drain clear. Its not good practice to shove things down the tube to clear the drain. you could break the tube. if you half to use somthing like a zip tie that is flexable.

Once the drain is flowing water your clear and can put the back wall back together. and plug the machine back in.

Keep in mind that you will need to remove the food and have a place for it while you are working on the machine.

one more thing. try not to pour more that 2 to 3 cups of hot water down the drain. The pan may not hold much more and will spill on the floor behind the machine.

Viking professional defrost cycles

Check the rubber seal inside/around the door. I bet you have a tear or piece of seal that isn't making a solid fit and it's allowing (warm) room air into you freezer. This moist room air will either turn to water droplets and builds up to enough droplets to form puddles in the bottom of the freezer, or it freezes into a blob of ice around the door seal and this allows warm room air into the freezer. Otherwise you need an Appliance Tech to check the Freon refrigerant level. Most times its the door seal causing this problem.

Frigidaire FFHS2311LWD has water pooling up and freezing bottom drawer and lower vent. Drain tube doesn't seem to be clogged. Water leaks onto floor some days.

the drain tube is most likely clogged. if the lower vent is freezing up there is no way to confirm because it is covered with ice. the reason water leaks onto the floor is, the refrigerator goes into defrost, frost melts and runs down the ice to the door. use a hair dryer to remove all ice, then use hot water to check drain. drain tube may be up to a foot long and may have a trap. you may have to go in through the back to gain access to the drain

Water pools at bottom of freezer, freezes and water leaks out

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove bottom shelf from fridge and remove the styrofoam..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the Freezer is because the water has been leaking into the freezer instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you need any further assistance. Freezer not freezing, and leaking

If this unit has an ice maker and you noticed water leaking into the refigerator, I had a similar problem. The water turn off valve for the ice maker had a small piece of sand or grit lodged in it and stopped the valve from closing properly. So it could not turn of completely and the valve became increasingly more sloppy as the piece of sand was wedged in further. The solution was to replace the samll valve. An easy job for someone a bit handy.

If the water has frozen in the bottom of the freezer compartment the colliing port for the cold air may also be affected. Don't chip the ice out of the bottom, defrost it with pans of hot water.

Hope this helps

Ice is forming at the bottom of the freezer and freezing the bottom draw shut. it doesn't appear to be leaking and the door shuts properly. it's supposed to be a frost free freezer....

Causes:

High humidity in the immediate area causing condensation to freeze at the door opening

A frozen defrost drain line not allowing water to drain off when the unit is in defrost

A bad door gasket causing an air leak

Some freezers have a heated perimeter to reduce condensation. If the stop working, moisture can accumulate arounf the door perimeter and freeze.

Leaving the door open too long or something obstructing the door

Freezer leaking water

sounds like you have a clogged defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials works awesome, after you clear it and all water drain down tube wrap a piece of solid copper wirearound the heater( black calrod heater right above the drain trough) and stick it in the whole maybe an inch or so. now everythime the heater comes on to defrost it will prevent the hole from freezing over
