Coleman 5000 watt generator Tecumseh 10 hp engine. Surging r.p.m. Carburetor has been gone through 2 times, and still not correct. Any information will help!!!

Engines only need 3 things to run

Fuel (is it fresh, carb clean, jets clear)
Compression (test with compression gauge)
A spark at the right time (remove plug, ground it, check for spark)

Try to locate a plug in voltmeter that also measures frequency. set engine speed for 60 hz with moderate load.

However, describing it as the PowerMate 6250 10 HP generator is insufficient to find the correct manual. The Coleman PowerMate line has several models with 10 HP engines and a 6250 Starting Watt (5000 W running) capacity.

The carburetor is hunting for the right balance because it is dirty. You will have to remove it to clean it thoroughly. That is the proper way to resolve it, but if you may want to try to add a carburetor fuel injector fuel additive to the tank and run it out. It may help to stabilize the hunting when the engine is under load. The only way to see is to try it, if you are not ready to tackle a carburetor. I have seen this trick work on my lawn mower engine. It greatly minimized the problem on my engine. Keep in mind the ultimate fix is the rebuild of the carburetor.

More detailed information about the engine can be found by using the engine model number. Look around the fan shroud or engine block. Coleman used different engnes, however your gen may have incorporated a Tecumseh 10 hp engine. Good luck

I have a Coleman Powermate 5000 with 10 HP Tecumseh engine. It is very hard to get started. once started runs great . But when you shut it off and try to restart it it will not start.
I have plenty of fire. I also replace the carb.
I still have problems getting it started. I tried to start it with out the filter also. What can i try next?

It depends on what temperature range the generator will be operating in. Below is a chart from Tecumseh that shows different oils for different temperature ranges. It says on their website to use a high quality brand name oil so you don't have to get actual Tecumseh oil.
