When I transfer video from my Insignia Camcorder to my computer, the AVI video on my computer only shows a black screen. It appears to be playing in the media player but the screen remains black. I tried on two separate computers using multiple video clips but all are black. The videos look fine when I play them back on the Camcorder.

This is a codec issue and can be most easily resolved by installing the software and drivers that came with your camcorder. Alternatively, several codec packs are available for download by internet search. Insignia recommends ArcSoft MediaImpression software for editing and playback.

Cant play videos

save the movie file as an AVI(audio, video interlaced) file in a folder you can find in the computer hard drive. go to opal and the pc library click on the import media tab. go to the folders tab and find the folder with the AVI file. click the import media button and there should be a screen showing the pharase transfering all compatible media. the files should then be found in the opal pc library under video. click the file you wish to upload, then click on the transfer to device tab. it should then begin converting the file, which may take a while. after the conversion it should begin transfering the file to the player.

I have converted videos from my minicam to an AVI file. How do I transfer the videos to another existing software program on my pc for video analysis? The minicam is an everio and I am trying to transfer...

1st of all can you play the movie on your computer? If not, you are probably missing the programs and drivers necessary to do anything with the AVI file.
Videos on the computer generally run with avi or mpeg files. You have to have the drivers to play these files before you can run them.... otherwise, there should be no reason why they don't run.

How do I play a transfered video file from my Vivitar DVR560G?... when I click on the file, it only plays sound.

The Vivitar DVR560G outputs each of these file types...JPEG, MP3, AVI and WAV.
To view a video, you must use and mP3 or AVI file. Right now your output is a .WAV file which is an audio only file. See your owners manual for output options.

Screen shows black at top and bottom from flip video hd

I think you can use doremisoft flip converter that can crop your black bars and other addition editing functions, such as cut clips, join videos, add special effect and so on.
YOU can free download at:

have a try.

My dxg-572v camcorder only plays the audio and no video on the laptop. however, when iplayback in th ecamera i see the video

The reason you can see the video on the camera but not on the computer is a simple fix. Whatever program your trying to play the video on needs an update to its drivers. Go to either your internet home page or any search engine and type "AVI CODEC DOWNLOAD" then the name of the program your trying to play the video with. Example; "avi codec download windows media player" and you should see options pop up (if it is Windows Media Player i recommend using the download from Microsoft.com but you get the idea). then download, install, and then just try to play it again and it should work fine. :)

Transfer video files from camara to pc

I have a JVC Everio GZ-HD3AA camcorder which I recently purchased. I am able to connect it a TV and watch video files, but they all appear in black and white!
The downloaded movies to my laptop (Acer aspire 5630) with windows vista as the operating system are played in slow motion on the laptop screen.
