SOURCE: printer won't print

I've had this 6110xi all-in-one for a few years now. Everytime I have the "no-printing" issue I need to unplug the printer, and leave it unplugged overnight. The problem magically goes away in the morning.

I've installed the printer on a separate computer while it was having a "no-printing" episode and still couldn't print there either. So it sounds like there's something funky with the printer internal cache requiring a long power-down.

SOURCE: ''clicking'' noise started randomly- cant use printer

Hi starrz54,

Here is the HP site that talks about resolving unexpected noises (such as clicking)...

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpu06191&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&rule=26695&product=303753

You also might try doing a full reset on the device. Here is how to do that: While switching on the scanner press # and 9 to initialize.
I
This should give you some good directions and if it does not resolve the issue, the next step would be to have it serviced or replaced.

SOURCE: 3940 blinks and cant pritn

hello lotsaprint, ipang
Few days ago i had the same problem with my hp 3920 color photo printer. All i did is removed the cartridges one by one and the problem was solved. Try removing the color cartridge first, then switch on the printer see i the problem is solved the cartridge contacts must be dirty. clean it with soft tissue (dont use any liquid) and reinsert the cartridge. If the problem persists u may need to replace the cartridge. Check with a new one if u can borrow one from anyone b4 u buy.
Repeat the same procedure with black cartridge if necessary. If u r new and need guidance for removing the cartridge, then do the following.
1). Switch on the printer.
2). Open the front cover. The cartridge will now move to the
center.
3). Switch off the printer and remove the power cord.
4). push the cartridge gently downwards to detach.

Close the cover when u r done with above mentioned.
For more info see the user guide u go with the printer.

Hope this was helpful

Cant find instructions to print off how to use in English

Using a printer even basic printer is extremely easy to do. There are many different models of printers out there. You have your very basic to your all-in-one printer. The printer with everything on it works pretty much just like the regular printer you just have a lot more buttons to push.
Make sure that your printer is hooked up properly before using it. If this is a brand new printer then it will go through a check and print out a test page for you. A lot of different times you can just turn it on, you will hear the ink moving around. Something might come up on the computer telling you that the printer is on and working properly.
Open the page you want to print. If you are on the Internet and want to print something from there. All you have to do is go up to file, then down to page set up. This will give you more printing options to choose from. When you are done setting up the page you can verify you have the right printer hooked up by clicking on "Printer" at the bottom. Once everything looks good click on "OK" and now your page should print out.
Open up a ".doc" file if that is where your page is that you need to print. When you are ready to print go up to "File" and "Print Setup". Again you can choose how you want your page to look, and check and make sure the right printer is installed. If your page is set up the way you like it you can just click on the printer icon on the tool bar or go to "File" then "Print."
Using a printer a lot over time will start to wear down your ink supply. Some models of printers let you know when your ink supply is getting low. If you have an older printer you will just have to go by what the printed page looks like. If it is very worn and faded then it is time to install a new ink cartridge.Go to this site www.knox.edu.com and www.openprinting.org

I have a brother mfc 490cw. I have only printed from microsoft word. But whenever I print a page it runs another page reporting the file name, directory, template title, subject, author, keyword, comments...

Hi there!
The issue that you are having is because of the settings on your Microsoft Word. Here's what you can do to resolve the issue.
  1. Open the document you want to print on Microsoft Word. Click on the Orb icon on the upper left hand corner which is also called the Office button.
  2. Click on Print and click on Print again. The Print window should be open by now.
  3. On the lower left hand corner of the print window you will see the options button. Click on the Options button. You should now have the Word Options window.
  4. On the Word Options window. Click Display from the Left panel, you should see Printing Options.
  5. Make sure that under Printing Options only Print Drawings created in Word is Checked and leave the others unchecked. Click OK. Click OK again. This should print your document without the other page.
Hope this helps! Have a Good day!

I replace my Black ink with new and it will print only a few times then the black streaks and then stops working. I clean the heads and it don,t help. Change to another new black ...same thing print a few...

This issues looking printer head problem. check the following Steps for cleaning printer head :

Click on the Start button if you have Windows XP. If you have Windows Vista, click the Windows icon that resides in the lower left corner of your computer screen.

Click on "Control Panel," then "Printers and Other Hardware." Finally click on "View Installed Printers or Fax Printers."

Right-click on the name of your printer and choose "Printing Preferences." This should open a new window; next look for a tab or button marked Maintenance, or something similar.

Find the button that says "Print heads" or "Clean the Print heads" and click on it. You may be asked to choose which print heads; choose them all if you are. Make sure there is paper and ink in your printer, and that it is turned on ahead of time.

Take out the page your printer has printed and see if there are any grids or boxes missing. If there aren't, then you can just exit the program--your print heads are not clogged. If there are grids missing, then click on the "Cleaning" or similarly worded button.

Once the cleaning process has completed, print another page to be sure that your print heads are no longer clogged. If they are still clogged, repeat Steps 1-5 until your printer is printing clearly.

HP 7450 printer doe snot start printing

this can be caused by power glitches blowing the drivers out. I'd connect the printer to it's own power strip, and then directly into the wall outlet. Do NOT plug any modems or wireless devices into the same power strip. Got backup?
