Hi,

You can also reset Internet Explorer settings if you had made any unwanted changes to the browser.

For this, you need to close down all Windows Explorer windows and Internet Explorer in your system.

From Start menu, select Internet Explorer and in the Tools Menu select 'Internet Options'.

Click the 'Reset' button to get Internet Explorer changes removed.

You need to close and reopen Internet Explorer to save the changes made to it.

The main culprit to slow loading web pages is the amount of RAM memory you have in the system and how much of it is being used for all the systems resources. Your system uses the specs below.....

  • Package: 184-pin DIMM
  • Feature: DDR PC2700

  • Maximum Memory: 2048MB
  • Slots: 2 (1 bank of 2)
  • Standard Memory: 512MB & 1 GB removable

    How to make your internet run faster?

    There is a lot of things that slow your computer's internet connection. You have to keep your computer optimized, such as cleaning your web browser's cache files and your hard drive could be needing maintenance. Run a few ISP speed tests, Speakeasy,Comcast, are just a few. If you are a wireless connection download this freeware program which can help you find a better connection, Go to http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5936-inssider.html , PS check your internet provider to see how fast a connection your paying for.

    Running slow

    To increase internet speed
    * Check to see if faster internet connections are in your area:
    Fiber optic and cable internet tend to be faster than DSL and dial-Up.
    *Do some basic maintenance on your PC:
    a scan disk, a virus scan, a malware scan, and clear your recycle bin.Delete old files and temporary files.
    * Reset Your Modem
    Sometimes switching OFF and ON your modem helps you to speed the internet.
    * Optimize your cache or temporary Internet files.
    These files improve your Internet connection performance by not downloading the same file over and over.* Replace your old cable modem
    * Upgrade your router firmware
    * Upgrade your computer.
    * Try pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete simultaneously and open up the Task Manager. Go to the process menu and close those processes that may be stealing your valuable bandwidth.
    * Download programs that make browsing faster:
    A good tool to increase internet speed is Internet Cyclone.
    Loband.org is a browser inside of a browser that loads web pages without the images.
    Firefox and Opera both have options to disable images.

    After you have tried some of this,try your connection again using Scanmyspeed.com and see if you get improved speed results. If you are not satisfied Call your Internet service provider (ISP) and check whether upgradation of your plan is necessary.

    My internet connection is slow have dsl through telephone company what can i do to speed things up

    Your phone company should run some testing in the lines to check what's wrong.
    If the speed you're paying is very diferent from the actual speed you get you may need to review the contract with them (phone company).
    Anyway... run this test:
    http://www.speedtest.net/
    Try different locations and then call them.

    My DSL is Too Slow, could it involve my phone lines?

    Hello there.

    It sounds like your computer might be infected with something, you should not be getting popups in this day and age :)

    I would suggest 2 things, firstly you can avoid most of the problems on the Internet by using a safer web browser, either Firefox or Opera is much safer than using the included browser Internet Explorer6/7.

    The second thing would be to run an online virus, trojan, spyware scanner such as housecall . This runs in your web browser and does not conflict with any antivirus installed on the computer, let it scan your computer and when its done it should remove anything found.

    Doing this and using another web browser should speed up your computer which in turn should speed up your internet hopefully.

    In firefox you can even install a plugin call 'adblock filter updater' which not only blocks adverts but stops them from even loading, this should speed up your connection some.

    Try this and let us know.
    Hope this helps.

    Speed of computer

    Try testing the speed, go to this website and see what results you get. It takes a couple of minute so so be a bit patient. http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/ If it's slow, report it to your DSL supplier.
