LCT3701AD Intermittent initial startup until now. Remote would not turn it on for awhile but power button would. Now, neither will turn it on. Yesterday, we played a DVD on it, ejected the DVD and the TV would not turn off. ( Had this about a year.) So, we unplugged it. Plugged it in this AM and we have a red light, but neither the remote nor the ON button will turn it on. Advice? Is it the main power board?

  • snowdncr43 Feb 03, 2008

Just found the model number on this TV, it's an LCT3701AD. Do you still think it may be the power switch only? If so, should I change the pcb going to the switch or the switch button itself?

Any idea where I can get either? The other threads I've been reading indicate that AKAI parts are almost impossible to get.

  • snowdncr43 Feb 04, 2008

Call AKAI. They simply told me to take it to a repairman. AND they will look up parts for a repair facility (told them we DO electronic repair, just don't have specs on this AKAI) and wouldn't do it for me.

Looked at the standby (on/off) button and it seems to click well, but haven't removed the DVD player to get to the board that it appears the button is plugged into. Think there's any need for that?

Also the one hint the guy did give me was "It may be your power source." Any more ideas?

I have a AKAI LCT3701AD 37 inch TV don't have the original remote control but bought a universal remote control but is not working Why?

YOU WILL STILL NEED TO PROGRAM THE NEW REMOTE FROM THE MANUAL THAT CAME WITH THE REMOTE. NORMALLY THIER ARE TWO WAYS TO PROGRAM A REMOTE EITHER MANUALLY OR TO DO IT AUTOMATICALLY. YES THE ORIGIONAL REMOTE IS ALREADY SET UP FOR YOUR MODEL OF TV BUT WITH THAT SAID TRY TO PROGRAM IT BY BOTH PARTS OF THE MANUAL. i AM USING A 55 INCH SMART TV AND HAVE DONE THIS AND ON OTHER SMART TV'S. ALSO YOU CAN GO TO THE WEBSITE OF THE REMOTE THAT YOU PURCHASE AND LOOK FOR VIDEOS ON HOW TO SET IT UP. IF YOU NEED MORE HELP LET SOMEONE HERE KNOW. GOOD LUCK.

My Dish 5.0 IR remote won't program to my new TV, it's an Emerson, the model number on the back is- LC320EMXF. I've tried holding the TV button until all the top lights flashed and then...

You were attempting to perform a power scan initially. The second procedure is manually attempting to address the remote to your TV. I will give you the procedures again so you can try one more time. Emerson TV is one brand we have a low percentage of success getting our remotes to work. If it still doesn't work, we could try replacing the remote.

TV code: 623, 667, 666, 233, 516, 537, 544, 642, 655, 699, 000, 999, 888, and 720.

Remotes: Basic (Television Only)
  1. Turn the Television On.
  2. Press and hold the clear TV button for six seconds until the LED flashes.
  3. Enter the three-digit code using the buttons on the number pad.
  4. Press #. Note: The LED will flash three times.
  5. Test functionality with the TV.
  6. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.
Remote Power Scan: Basic Remote (Television Only)
  1. Turn the Television On.
  2. Press and hold the clear TV button for six seconds until the LED flashes.
  3. Press and release the red TV Power button.
  4. Press and release the Up or Down Arrow on the remote until the television turns off once every second.
  5. After the television turns off, press and release the # button.
  6. Test functionality with the TV.
  7. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.

When unit is turned on, it defaults to Vid1. My Direct TV Satellite is hooked up to CMP - component input. Is there any way to make the TV default to CMP when it is turned on?

Bring up the menu on your TV. At the bottom of the menu should be the Setup menu. Choose it and press OK on your remote. You will then get another menu and one of the choices will be Preferences. Highlight it and press OK. On the next menu choose Special Features and press OK. The last menu should have a choice titled Initial Channel. Highlight this choice and then using your Left and Right buttons on either side of the OK button you will be able to scroll through all of your channels as well as all of the Inputs that are on the back and front of your TV. Scroll through the choices until you see CMP. Then you can either highlight and choose the Go Back choices at the top left of each menu, or just press the Clear button on your remote until you exit the menu system.

Now when your turn your TV on it should default to CMP. The same menu that you chose CMP through will also allow you to choose the Initial Volume on startup,

Delay light is flashing on tv, but wont turn on. Not sure if problem is tv or remote? Dont see light on remote when push in buttons?

The problem with the unit is power supply part number,MLT166A.If you can not find one you can try to fix yours.First you have to take out power supply,Replace 3 electrolytic caps EC18,EC19,EC20 all are 1000mf at 16 volt. Then find Z3 on same board,it is a 27 volt zener diode 1 watt, part number 1N4750A.Put board back in then unit should work.
