Get a new pen drive, you can get reviews at Shop Data Drives , there are reviews, pen drive compatibility issues are almost never the case, its the drive that is often damage, you can
1. Format the drive and set it to Fat32 or NTFS
2. Check into another port, if it doesn't work get a new pen drive, just 200-300 the one you are using

Try to put it in another computer..if it is recognized,then the usb version of your laptop differs from the sticks version..if not...means that the memory stick is damaged..
