Dell vostro 1510
when i turned it on down arrow and A lights were lid and 9 light was flashing very fast. when i removed the battery and then put it back in it started normally and loaded windows, but after a few minutes the screen started flashing and then turned black. the comp didn't stop working so i had to shut it down with a turn on key. the next time i tried to turn it on the flashing lights were back again. i did the removeing of the battery again and it worked again (same story as before). i reloaded the video driver and did a backup, but the 3rd or 4th time it stoped working all together. thank you, simon
But the Diagnostic indications says exactly that you needs a Motherboard replacement
Testimonial: "that's exactley what happened. when i had it serviced they told me this is a problem with dell laptops so it pays off to have a prolonged guarantee."

If only 1 light flashes, first check your memory (RAM) and make sure it is seated properly in the slot. If you have some more memory you can install just for a test, that may help. If it is no the memory it is a motherboard or processor issue that will require professional service.
Try reseating RAM. The flashing lights indicates a fault on the motherboard. I read online where this fixed many laptops but not all and not mine. I suspect the motherboard is dead in my case. May be same for you but first try reseating RAM, hard drive and maybe the processor.
A flashing orange battery charging light is a failry universal symbol that means the battery is detected, but NOT charging. Usually, this means the battery has gone bad. In some cases, a slow orange flash means bad, a fast flash means very very low charge (or vice versa)
i found what diffrent error lights mean (dell vostro 1510 service manual):

if this is true then i guess i need a new processor :(
