I dropped my sidekick 3,the screen went black, I played around with it turning it on and off, taking the battery in and out, the xcreen went white, so I repeated what i did earlier. The screen finally started woking but now...it won't read my sim card! What can I do?

You need to reseat the LCD cable. More than likely it has come loose in the back of the LCD

So if the sidekick has suffered a drop or some other type of trauma, the cable for the lcd screen can come loose causing a white screen. Try the following guide to repair a white screen:

If it doesn't work, you can replace the Sidekick 3 screen assembly fairly easily. A new LCD assembly runs about 30 dollars from ebay. Here is a guide for that:

if you don't have a t6 torx driver, a small flathead will do the trick.

Is it white or just black?

If it it is white then this procedure should fix it, Fix Sidekick White LCD Screen

if it is black then a new lcd is in order. They run about 45 dollars and fairly simple to install.

Honestly, this has happen to me 3 times on such random occasions. My solution...leave it alone. Thats right turn it off leave it to charge over night, when you wake up take the battery out for a bit, then put it back in after fter a little while. I promise you it always works for me. shit it just worked as I'm typing this. Am I sure this isnt part of a bigger problem? no. But it is the best solution, considering T-Mobile wants to charge me 110 to get it "fixed"

Did you by chance drop the phone recently?

A loose cable for the lcd can cause this or a bad lcd.

You need to disassemble it to take a look.

You will need a set of Torx screwdrivers to get it open.

If your sidekick ID or Sidekick 3 screen is a blank white, then the lcd flex cable has come loose. It is a little difficult to repair but any one can do it. The worst that will happen if you try to repair yourself is that it will not work and you buy a replacement screen from ebay for 45 dollars.

Here are the detailed instructions. Just reinstall your lcd instead of putting a new one on.
