My Nokia 301 is saying operation failed every time I try to listen to a song

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Update your phone's software: Make sure your Nokia 301 is running the latest software version. You can check for updates by going to Menu > Settings > Phone > Device Updates .

Reset your phone: A hard reset may help resolve the issue. Before doing so, make sure to back up all your data as this will erase all data on your phone. To perform a hard reset, go to Menu > Settings > Restore Factory Settings .

Check the file format of the music files: Ensure that the music files you transferred from your smartphone are in a compatible format such as MP3, AAC, or WMA .

Try a different music player app: If the above steps do not work, try using a different music player app such as VLC or Winamp .

If it's recognised by iTunes you can restore it.This erases everything and resets it back to factory presets. You can then rename it and put your music on without problems.Apple doesn't allow any form of file sharing but doesn't care how many different people use the same iPods.I have 3 -8GB iTouchs',3 -30GB iPods,1 shuffle and 1 nano. All from Pawn Shops, you can get them for 25 cents on the dollar.

You can reset the whole phone if you have already tried erasing it from its apps menu. Keep in mind that thid will erase everything (data, media, etc). I suggest you load all your media files to the MMC (mem. card), instead using the phone's mem.

To Reset:

menu Settings/Tools----Phone Settings---Security----enter user code--select Reset Default. Phone will off then on aftter 1 or 2 by itself.

Music not showing up even when downloaded

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
-----
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

Deleting

you may have to reformat the MP3 player by clicking on the drive its listed under and right click and go to Format. Formatting is done with FAT, not NTFS. This will remove any games or other data on it too. Sometimes the reset thing might work. In general, anything you erase from it using a computer should erase off the MP3 player too.
