Waveguide cover I have problem with my Sharp R- 820B. Waveguide cover.

1. Waveguide coverSparking and arcing in a microwave can be caused by a damaged waveguide cover. Try removing the waveguide cover to see if the problem persists. Once removed, the waveguide cover can be inspected for burns, which will indicate if this is the issue. If the waveguide cover is burnt or will not stay in the proper spot it will need to be replaced.
   
2. Cavity/Rack supportIf sparking or arcing in your microwave is near a rack support, any exposed metallic area can be covered with a microwave cavity support. It is also recommended to replace the rack supports in this situation to ensure the issue is resolved.
   
3. Cavity paintIf sparking or arcing in the microwave is visible on the side walls, the paint covering the metallic areas could have worn off or chipped. This can possibly cause pitting in the side walls or ceiling. If this is the case, it can be repaired with microwave cavity pain

It can be fragile, and the metal edges of the oven behind it can be sharp, so be careful!

The cover and the metal behind it should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner.

If the area is charred or chipped, the area will first have to be sanded smooth and cleaned and dried thoroughly.

If the cavity metal of the oven is cracked or split, you can use a small amount of steel-based epoxy such as JB-WELD to patch the crack or hole.

Once that dries thoroughly, you can sand it very smooth.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

If your waveguide cover is burned, it will need to be replaced.

It provides critical protection for the magnetron.

You should replace the waveguide cover, the plate you refer to. They are fairly cheap and easy to replace.

If you mean the waveguide cover, those are almost always mica or plastic.

They would normally install by sliding them into slots in the cavity or ceiling, and sometimes they are held in pl;ace with a plastic rivet, too.

If a waveguide cover is damaged, it should be replaced with a new one, not repaired in any way.

Arcing will occur, which can damage your magnetron, waveguide, and / or chassis.

If you mean the waveguide itself, which channels the microwave energy from the magnetron to the cooking cavity, that cannot be removed or replaced. They are welded in place. If the waveguide is bad, the oven has to be replaced.
