First, make a backup of your files (external disk-drive, or DVD-writable disks), and verify that another computer can read your files.
Some laptop computers have a "slice" of the hard-drive that contains a "System Recovery Partition". Restart your computer, and see if the first start-up messages say anything like "press F12 to access System Recovery".
If there is no such partition or capability, find the original Acer set of CD-ROMs, and reinstall Windows. If you have misplaced those CDs, order a replacement set from ACER. Since your computer was shipped with Windows pre-installed, you have the right to reinstall, and the replacement CDs will be available at a "small" price (usually $20 plus courier-shipping).
Boot from those CDs, and reinstall.

Nonsense. Reloading Windows will "wipe" all traces of the computer-virus from the disk-drive.
> try Spybot or Adware (did you mean AdAware???)
These tools try to remove the "known" type of "pest" software.
They will *NOT* be effective against a computer-virus.

Hello,
Restoring factory defaults will not fix this problem. You need to run software to clean out the virus or format your entire hard drive.
You can try running Spybot or Adware.
Good luck
