Stained clothes Please Help! after eco cold/cold cycle clothes have oilly/grease marks on some articles. Where is it coming from?

  • Anonymous Apr 18, 2008

I have the same problem.... most of the marks are long - string like - as if something is floating in the water before it attaches to the clothes.

I am just empting a load of white towels that is a terrible mess. It has happened before & I have to use a spray product like Zout to remove the marks. It will take a couple of washes to remove the junk.

Oil sure sounds like a possibility.

I also have brown marks on my clothing after wash load is done. Sometimes I smell a bad odour while the washer is on. I read online that the bearings may need to be replaced! My kenmore front loader is only 4 years old.

We have the same grease stains problem. Without even touching my Kenmore front loader, a Sears tech "knew" the grease stains were from bearings. He said it is the only source of grease in the machine and that the repair would be $800 plus because it involves 2 techs. Wish they would have told me that on the phone and save me the $70 house call fee. No more Kenmores for me.

THANK YOU for your efforts in solving my grease marked clothes, after further investigation I found that indeed the bearing on the back of the tub, were the belt attaches, is leaking grease through the tub after the water spins through it. My solution: after ruining my wifes brand new robe and her white shirt, was to buy new washer, I bought Maytag top load. She is much happier.

I have the same problem and I do nt use a fabric softner. It looks as though the liquid laundry soap dripped on the clothing; it also has a sprayed pattern.

Yellow stains on my clothes

Check carefully inside the drum. There may be something coloured like a crayon jammed in there that rubs against your clothing.
You could also try purchasing a washing machine " Cleaning solution" from your local hardware store and putting that through a cycle to flush out the machine.
After that, if this persists, the next suspect is "the dreaded oil or grease leak" from machine bearings. That unfortunately usually means a complete machine stripdown and rebuild to rectify and may be unviable economics for you.

I have a Maytag Neptune gas dryer and recently light colored clothes are coming out with small black marks on them; it looks like grease/oil stains. Where could this be coming from?

my first guess would be something ,someone placed in dryer perhaps coveralls or oily clothing. There is no place that I am aware of on a dryer where you could pick up oil leaks from ..are you sure you did not have a lint fire, the oil stains may be soot

Grease-like stains on clothing

hi. i can help. the grease is coming from one of two places. Either some item with grease on it got placed in the machine and the grease transferred to the tub where it will cause the problem until it is spotted and removed with a degreaser, or wears off.

OR the grease is coming from the washer itself. Perhaps some grease oozed out of the mechanicals related to the aggitator.

Either way I would get a strong flash light or trouble light and look carefully in the tub and around the aggitator for grease. Then remove it with a cloth and some degreaser, available at any auto parts store.

GE dryer, black grease stain on cloth

I have the same problem, I haven't resolved it but it seems to be due to the drum of the dryer being able to move more than it's supposed to and things getting caught in between the drum and whatever it sits in, at the front of the dryer. I have found things caught in there before and when I've pulled them out they had a brown/yellow grease stain on them. Other times something in the dryer will have this same stain - although no longer caught it seems it must have been caught at some point then became free again, with the stain. I'm thinking something is loose or if the drum is supported at the back by a bearing of some sort, this bearing may be worn down and the drum isn't sitting right.

Mile 864 front loader - clothes come out with new grease marks

Problem will be the use of fabric softner or too much detergent. The stain you are seeing is generally to animal fat that is present in fabric softner, Best solution is to cut back on the amount of softner being used, same with powder.
