    hi nina,

thanks for your tip. we installed latest win7 - version, but the outcome was the same. we

tried different setups and had no success. i guess thats the way it has to be.

the box prints wireles but will not scann. it scanns only when connected to an usb port.

it seems to be a problem for win 7 and/or samsung engineers.

if you do have any other ideas ,please let me know . i`ll cancel the subscribtion by the end of

    january.

    hi nina,

this is what i expected. this, i guess,is part of precaution for data security . it prevents that someone else can catch your data during transfer. i cant see any other reasons.

do you have the opportunity to get in touch with samsung , in order to get an definite answer ?

    kind regards

Hello,

I want to make sure I understand your question, you can scan via usb but NOT wlan? If this is the case, a few questions for you; a) do you receive any error messages when you try to print via WLAN? and b) have you check the Samsung support web page for drivers for the Win 7 os?

From here we should be able to get you connected via WLAN.

Hello, Siggi.

Be certain that you have the latest driver. You can download the Windows 7 Scan driver from:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/detail/supportPrdDetail.do?menu=SP01&prd_ia_cd=06010300&prd_mdl_cd=&prd_mdl_name=SCX-4200

Click on the File from this Download-Driver page.

Hope this helps.

    Hi, Siggi.

Well, after researching this problem further, I found that unless the manufacturer specifically includes network scanning software, a scanner (whether standalone or included in an all in one unit)
    is NOT
    normally a networkable device.

This is irregardless of the manufacturer, unless they include that network scanning software, that I couldn't find from Samsung.

Apparently, this is a global problem.

    Siggi,

As I mentioned, Samsung does not have network scanning software.

I/O error when trying to scan. Used to work OK

Good day Sir,
These are my suggested solutions.
  • There ma be a copying or printing job in progress. When the job is complete, try your job again.
  • The selected port is currently being used. Restart your computer and try again.
  • The scanner driver is not installed or the operating environment is not setup properly.
  • Ensure that the machine is properly connected and the power is on, then restart your computer.
  • The USB cable may be improperly connected or the power may be off.
Thank you and God bless.

Problem scanning with samsung scx 4521f

Hi,

Sorry to have missed your initial posting...

In any case, to my understanding, this particular printer is likewise capable of USB connection. Perhaps you can try connecting it pure USB and go through the installation again. this might simplify interface and communications between notebook and scanner/printer.

If for some reason you would want to retain Printer/Parallel to Notebook/USB, you need to check your Imaging Devices in the notebook's Device Manager and verify that all drivers are installed for the Samsung SCX-4521F. There should be no yellow or red marks. If there are or if the Samsung SCX-4521F instance is not present, you may need to reinstall using the Add Hardware Option in the Control Panel. You may need to manually select the imaging device/scanner. This holds true if you are using Windows XP.

If you are using Vista, you may need to download all the Vista drivers from the Samsung website. Further, pls be informed that to my knowledge, Vista has certain issues with USB ports. Microsoft has issued a patch/update specifically for this concern. It may be downloaded from here or here.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Sharing with Samba/Cups

To my best knowledge, you cannot. The drivers and scanning software on your unit are not designed to support network protocols. Your unit does not come with an Ethernet adapter and it is not available as an option. When Samsung fits an equipment with a network card (such as the SCX-4521FN) the drivers and software are enabled for network use. By the way, your toner will only last for 3,000 pages. Are you sure it's a good idea to share such such a small unit over a 10 PC network?
