Got a fan assisted gas oven. Trying to bake a cake

Got an Ariston fan assisted gas oven/electric grill. Trying to bake a cake at 175C however oven temperature flucates and continues to rise to 210C regardless of the control knob setting at 175C. Have had cooker representative visit and all is ok. Had the gas man visit and after putting on a new regulator the problem still persists.

Temperature control with gas ovens is not an exact science. However the control should be better than you say.

Have you tried reducing the set temperature to compensate for the 'overshoot'. It may be worth a try.

Top oven element on shacklock stove. Does it work on bake. My one only works on grill. What does that mean

Quite normal...top element is for grill/broil only. Bottom element is for bake only. If the grill element were to come on during baking a cake it'd burn the top of your cake to a crisp.
Some grill/broil elements cook at 500-700 degrees.

When baking the oven doesn't bake evenly and always bakes quicker than the time on recipes. Items burn and the middle is raw. Can the oven be recalculated to work better?? John

Electric ovens are always different from gas ovens. You have to set the temperature on average 10-15 degrees lower and watch out 15 minutes earlier if you are baking cakes, 5 mins for cookies etc. Always bake in the centre of the oven. use a metal bowl of water in another tray which may help balance out the temperature

Kenmore electrical oven

Trying to better define the problem....

Do you have any cuts, holes or "shorting" or tin-foil/aluminum around your bottom bake heat-element? If so, you may need to replace the baking Heat Element. (Ensure you do not use aluminum foil around your heat element to prevent your oven from getting dirty)

To replace your baking heat element, with power off; remove 2 screws securing the bake element. Slightly tug and pull towards you for about 3 inches or so and disconnect the connecting wires at each end. Then completely remove the heat element and install new in reverse manner. Whats' you're model number?
