Compatibility Wizard
1. Open the Program Compatibility Wizard by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Use an older program with this version of Windows.
2. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
If you cannot install a program, insert the installation disc for the program and, using the wizard, browse to the program's setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. The wizard is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.
To change compatibility settings manually for a program, right-click the icon for the program, click Properties, and then click the Compatibility tab.

This may sound stupid but make sure it is plugged in. Check the operating system and hardware requirements, if they don't meet the requirements, software will not recognize the device. Try different usb ports because sometimes computers have selective hearing and make sure your computer is initially recognizing the device when it is plugged in. If all else fails, don't try to install the software and head over to computer/my computer in the start menu. Right click and select properties. Click device manager in the hardware section or the bar to the left and look in the cd drive section. If you see your drive, right click and try any option about installing.

I erased my hard drive because of a virus problem. I installed windowsXP with a CD I bought from Compusa. It installed OK but the resolution is not adjustable and it is set at 640X480. At this value...

1. Navigate to the Control Panel in Microsoft Windows by left-clicking on Start, followed by Settings and then choosing Control Panel.

2. In the Control Panel window, open Display.

Note: In Microsoft Windows XP, depending on how your operating system is setup, you may not see the Display icon. To correct this, click on the link on the left-hand side of the Control Panel window that says Switch to Classic View.

3. In the Display Properties window, click on the Settings tab.

4. Locate the Screen resolution slider on the left-hand side of the window. Under most circumstances, the best choice is 800 by 600 pixels or 1024 by 768 pixels, possibly higher if you're using a 19" or larger monitor. The "best" setting is highly subjective to your personal preferences.

Note: Some types of software require the screen resolution settings to be set at a specific size. If you receive errors when opening certain software titles be sure to make any changes here as necessary.

It installs but wnt play

Your computer probably can't handle the game. Make sure your Operating System meets the requirements of what the game calls for. If it does and it still does not play, call the Maker of your game, and they should be able to trouble shoot it. Best of luck, sorry this is happening to you!

I installed comand and conquer tiberium was and try to launch the game and get an error message that states string manager failed to initialize properly i seek you advice

I might have a solution, try going to display settings and changing your resolution to 1280 by 768 pixels, if that doesn't work try changing the color to 16 bit. That has helped me before. If that doesn't work I'm not sure what may be wrong. You might need to check the minimum requirements located on the back of the box of your game, and see that you meet all requirements.
