I have the same problem but mine works some of the time and then shuts off.

  • Anonymous Jan 17, 2009

Me too.  Mine was cutting out some times and other times it worked.  Now it does not work at all.  No flame light, heat or fan.  The remote makes a click but when I switch the fireplace on, nothing.

The heater will not work if either the thermostat or blower are not working. (or the heater element is bad). Most of the time with these electric heaters, it's the thermostat.

SOURCE: electric fireplace does not heat

I have a cheap electric fireplace bought in SuperCentre store-heater no longer works. It says its a one piece system. Can these heaters be replaced or repaired(probably made in China) or am i better off scrapping it and buying a new one?

SOURCE: My Heater stopped working on my HEF33 Electric fireplace

We have had this same problem with our heater. But I went online to find out where I could purchase replacement parts. The company that sold the fireplace went out of business. I also went on-line to try and fine a universal replacement part. So far no help to be found.

I own a Mainstays brand Walmart Electric Fireplace Insert with Heater - recently purchased - Jan.'18 - the remote suddenly stopped working. How can I get it repaired or replaced?

Hello, Peder -

1. Regarding the remote control for your electric fireplace, I hope you have installed a fresh battery / fresh batteries in it and tried it again.

2. If you have not yet contacted Walmart directly and asked about obtaining a replacement remote control for your electric fireplace, then, I suggest you do so. I hope you have the sales receipt for the fireplace. If not, the information here may be instructive:

I also have a 4 year old Dimplex #6901860600 fireplace that has stopped working. I am sure a repair or replacement part is possible, once I find a supplier. Any advice is appreciated.

Is this an electric fireplace? Can you give me a little more info? Is the fan running, was it working earlier and stopped or is this the first time this season you plugged it in, is there power at the outlet? Please answer those questions and I'll help you walk through troubleshooting it

Noisy fan on electric fireplace

My recommendation would be to contact a fireplace showroom that sells electric fireplaces. It would be best if you could inspect your fireplace for the sticker that identifies the fireplace's brand and model#. The primary concern is contacting a showroom that is able to order parts for that brand...

I have a Amish looking electric fireplace, Model FL18-r, which has quit heating altho the fake flames still work. I am trying to see if the heater insert can be replaced, where and for how much, or...

There are a couple of reasons the heating unit part of the fireplace stop heating. A dust and lint build up in the heating coils can cause them to burn out. The heater overload circuitry has shut the heater down or has failed or the unit needs to reset. so lets go to the easiest thing for you to do, yourself.

RESETTING THE HEATER
Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF. Unplug the fireplace and wait 12 - 15 minutes before plugging it back in. Then turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Turn ON each individual function of the fireplace, one at a time. If the unit was able to reset itself, each function should work normally. If it doesn't, then one of the issues I listed above is the problem.

If your fireplace is less than one year old, it should still be under warranty. So contact the manufacturer (you can find the contact info in your Owners Manual) about repair or replacement.

One personal aside: None of the electric fireplace/heaters on the market today, have a long trouble free life span. Usually, it's 9 months to a year, when consumers start having problems. I sold these type of appliances for a couple of years, as an adjunct to our gas fireplace and heater business. When they started to become a problem for our customers, we quickly realized, that no matter who the manufacturer is/was, they are not what they are touted to be and we discontinued selling them. It's been 4 years since we discontinued selling them and apparently, nothing has changed in their manufacture. As, I answer more than my share of questions about them, here on FixYa. As one person told me, "I wish I had bought a vent-free gas fireplace instead. It would have cost me more, but would have been more reliable and would still heat, even if the power was out."

I hope this helps you trouble shoot and solve the problem.

Happy Easter!
