Okay, so my creative zen vision:m was working fine until today.
I hadn't used it in a month because I was just too busy with a lot of other things to have time to download new music and stuff to the player.
So when I plugged it into my USB port to charge, the usual creative logo did not turn up and only the blue light flashes. It flashes consistently, but when I open my creative zen media explorer, it tells me my device is not connected.
Resetting won't work obviously since the player is dead...although the blue light flashes?
I really really hope that nothing too serious is wrong with my player since its no longer under warranty, and I'd appreciate any help! Please?!

Q. Zen V is dead
"If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
Q. How to reset Zen v +
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22T_gkkZjmM&feature=related
also try this if above doesnt work
Alright guys, I think I've figured it out.
I got mine working again, and it's been down with the same problem since the 29th, you can see my post for help up above ^
So I tried to do the "Hold power for 30 seconds while plugged into your computer" thing. Didn't do anything, but thing is, I didn't unplug it from my computer afterwards, I just went to bed, and when I woke up, my creative was working again.
This, coupled with Oddu's solution have pretty much made me positive that for the problem we are having (only a blinking blue LED when connected to the PC or when you hold the power button) is just caused by an over-dead battery.
Plug your Creative Zen: Vision M into your USB 2.0 port, and just leave it overnight, mine was plugged in about 7 hours, I reccomend leaving it in at least that long, if not longer if it's still not working.
The situation that lead to mine becoming this way, was my Creative froze, and I didn't have a mechanicle pencil with me to hit the small reset button on the bottom so I just let it stay powered on until the battery died. I guess that kind of completly dead battery screws it over.
For prevention in the future, I reccomend not letting your creative get down to 0% battery. Keep it charged.
My zen version M just couldn't start after I plug it to another PC which running a driver for another Creative MP3. The reset not working, the zen can't be turn on... The blue light blink faster than usual while plug to PC.
I just fix my problem. What I did is:
1.disasseble my zen, see the video for detail: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6brTaCxX0eM
2.unplug the battery (don't go further, that it...)
3. without the battery, plug your zen to PC. At this time I saw the blue light blink slowly...
4. plug the battery back and try to turn the zen on... it works, my zen is working again...:-)
Hope this could help.
What happened is the battery ran down too low. When this happens, your computer will not recognize the player. To fix this you have to charge it using another energy source. This could be a wall or a car outlet. Alternatively, you can buy Zen's power adapter for around 20 bucks and plug it into your wall and your computer at the same time. Either way, as soon as you get it charged, go to the creative website and download the latest firmware update to keep it from happening again. Please feel free to distribute this solution to anyone else who is having the same problem.
I was able to get the adaptor/reset trick to work on my Zen Vision M. I bent a paper clip so it would just fit in the reset hole while plugged in to the adaptor. Once connected, I applied pressure to the paper clip and the unit reset. It is now charging fine.
Ok never mind, I think i fixed it by myself. Just plug it into the computer and hold the power button to switch on position for 30 sec or so. It should work.
My battery was just flat due to long time since I used it, it seems (2-3 months since last time), so charging it for a while before turning on worked super. Either
that or it was the prayer I said 2 sec earlier before it started
working ^_^

It is that the zen does not have enough power to turn on the screen and after a while
a battery icon will come up in th wright upper corner u will see it is low and then it will tun on
i think
OKAY i have the same problem with the blue light and every thing ITS the battery its doo dead so leave it plug ed on computer u will see the battery on the screen this is a good sign then am gonna leave it now and watch lol
Freakin awesome... I almost smashed it before I decided to search. Thanks...
For the problem that only the blue light on but nothing on the screen, maybe you haven't charged it for quite long time. try to plug and unplug a few times until u can be able to see the blue light is slowly gone blear and bright again after that!! means it's being charged!!! if the light just frozen with the light on......means not charged!!!! is just from my own experience and sorry for my bad English!!!!
Hi! My Creative Zen did exacly the same thing when the battery was low and i left in my car. I just took it in my roon warmed it up over the radiator and plugged the usb. Then i pressed down the reset and the power button's like 15 to 20 seconds and it came alive :D
OMG I DID IT FOR THE PAST 3DAYS MY COMPUTER WAS NOT RECONIZING THE MP3 I JUST GOT THE FLASHING BLUE LIGHT SO WHILE IT WAS PLUGGED IN I TOOK A NEEDLEAND HELD THE RESET BUTTON DOWN FOR ABOUT 2 MINS THEN BAM IS STARTS UP AGAIN BUT THE BATTERY WAS LIKE DEAD SO I LEFT IT CHARGING AND IT WAS GOOD AS NEW
If you've tried all possible ways of resetting is, the only remaining explanation is that you have a defective logic board. Those are available on Ebay, the only way to solve this problem is to take the logic board out and replace it. There is are guides online on how to do this. There is an ipod repair and creative zen repair service that can do it for you.
Hell!!!! I had two Zen Vision M 30 GB. Both dead too. Did not turn on. I'm wondering that might be manufacturer defect.
Easy Try This Buy The new creative zen vision jjojojoj
naa just kiding Buy white wall home charger and that's it
Plug And Ready like neew
I'm now having the same concern of the blinking blue light also, but it didn't start out that way. I went to turn on my Vision M 30GB MP3 player, and instead of the normal screen coming on an icon of my player along with a caution sign appeared. I went on my user guide and used the reset instructions, nothing. I've had it plugged in to the computer for 6 hours as it states and also over night. I still can not get the thing to turn on. It's been down for 3 days now.
Please can someone help me? If I have to reformat I'll loose over 1500 songs.
Try plugging it into a wall charger for about 30 minutes to get the battery going again. I got it to come on and go into the recovery mode by doing so. The plug it back into your computer and go to the Creative lab website at http://us.creative.com/support/welcome.asp. This is where I am now and maybe it will work for all of us! Good luck!
I had the blinking blue problem aswell..
I had not used my player for a while.. then tried to plug it into a usb port in my friends car stereo..
It did not work.. So I just left it after unplugging it..
Today I tried to turn it on, Blue light would flash after I tried to charge it.. I left it plugged into my comp after about 30 mins and its working again..
I tried pluggin it to the computer, holding down the on-bottom and then hitting reset as suggested here - that did the trick for me. My zen is working great again
Your pc no longer recongnize your Zen Vision M ? Your battery no longer charge ? You cannot turn on your Zen Vision M ? Every thing is ok with your device stop to fool around with it. The problem is your pc , your RAM must be overloaded, there is too many programs working together, try it, will be fixed!

SOURCE: Creative Zen Vision M Digital Movie downloads
I'm pretty sure no. But if your downloading it from Limewire then some may go and some may not. You'll have to double click it and see it at the Windows Media Player. So go ahead and try it!
SOURCE: Creative zen won't turn on
had same prob to the T...found this post and it fixed it...it's the computer not the zen...once I did the two steps my zen started charging and turned on...go figure...the flashing blue light doesn't mean it is charging.

If
you have windows set to do automatic updates, you most likely had a
windows update installed that caused this conflict with Win Media
Player 11. No fix has been posted by Microsoft yet, so the only
workaround is to Uninstall/Rollback Windows Media Player 11. Goto
<Control Panel<Add/Remove Programs and remove Windows Media
Player 11. Follow prompts, restart computer when prompted to. Also
uninstall Windows Media Player 11 Runtime application following same
procedure above.
This will roll your Windows Media Player back to version 10 or 9,
whichever you had installed prior to version 11. You will need to
re-configure Windows Media Player again.
Your Zen should now be recognized by WMP and Creative software. You
probably need to upgrade your firmware at this point, follow the
instructions on upgrading your firmware, and you should be good to go.
This is a windows problem, not a creative problem. Dont blame Creative
for the screwed up hotfixes that Microsoft puts out on a regular basi
SOURCE: Creative zen won't turn on
Could also be a combination of a nasty bug and the battery running out, there might be nothing wrong with your player.
When it doesnt turn back on, doesnt connect to PC and reset hole doesnt work either, plug into AC charger. Sometimes this is the only way you can bring it back to life - it should enter recovery mode automatically with the AC charger - once it does, select reboot and see what happens.

I have a creative Zen vision m and it has exactly the same problem the blue light flashes when I plug in into pc. Any solutions?
Yer i have the same problem. Although i use it all the time so its shouldnt be that. It was working one time and then i switched it off. When i came back to it a few hours later, it just wouldnt turn on so i plugged it into the computer where it just continued to flash (the blue light at the top) like quite fast continually but it says nothing is connected :s
I am having the same problem. The solution below doesn't help since the reset button is covered up when you plug it into a computer. Can somebody help?
Yup, exact same problem here. Seems like a common fault in the product.
My Creative Zen: Vision M Is not working becuase everytime I plug it to my Microsoft "Emachine" XP it doesn't come on and when I luanch the Creative maneger it says that my Creative is not pluged in... What do I do to solve this problem!?
i have tried all the tips suggested but it still wont come on im getting worried i just downloaded a bunch of awsome songs the other day and it worked fine afterwards but now its not even responding just that stupid ble light someone please help this thing was a lot of money and ive only had it for a year im not getting a new one anytime soon.
ive tried:
pushing the on button while the mp3 is plugged in for 30 seconds to 1min
Pushing the on button and pushing the reset button
those are pretty much the only steps ive heard of so far
exact same situation
my problem is the same as his.
i have the same problem.
same problem think my player was knocked on floor by children 3 ft drop i found it on floor will not turn on when connected to computer does not recognise device blue light on top can be seen lit when connected to charger cheers
i have tried charging for days, resetting ,no joy if i new problem i would buy parts and fix myself
I have the exact same problem too (blinking blue light when plugged in to computer) BUT...
My Zen died when I plugged it into one of those car FM transmitter docking stations that plug into the car's cigarette lighter. I'll explain my sequence of events that led to this problem:
- Plugged Zen into car docking station using the connector slot on the base of the player...the connector from the docking station had these little pointy tabs on each side which made it a little difficult to connect to my Zen but it fit eventually
- My player was on when connected it, after connection it went to the "Zen" screen but nothing else
- There was a small pulsing circle in the top middle of the screen which I thought was some kind of new icon I had never seen before, but after a few seconds I realised it was BURNING THE SCREEN
- Zen was getting warm where the pulsing circle was, and it was whirring away like it was processing something
- I unplugged it from the docking station (with a bit of difficulty due to the pointy spikes), but it stayed on the "Zen" screen, pulsing circle had gone but it was still whirring away...the off switch wouldn't work and I didnt have anything to hit the reset button with
- Had to leave the player in my car for about an hour on the "Zen" screen...when I got back, it was still there, still whirring away, and the whole player was getting quite hot
- Tried to get to the boot-up screen when I got home using the reset button, but this just caused the player to go blank, and occasionally come on to the "Creative" screen
- Holding on-off and hitting reset does nothing to the player now, and plugging in to the computer gets nothing but the flashing blue light under the on-off switch....EXCEPT after about 20 mins of being plugged in, the "Creative" screen comes on for about 5 mins then disappears again.
The battery was full when all this happened, so my issue definitely has not been caused by a flat battery. I probably would have left it on at the "Zen" screen to drain the battery if only it wasn't whirring away and getting dangerously hot. I have left it plugged into the computer overnight, and I even tried installing the software from scratch on my work computer to see if that could wake it up somehow, but it still remains in a blinking-blue coma :(
I don't think it's under warranty anymore, and I am hesitant to tell Creative about it anyway seeing as though it appears to be some other piece of equipment that caused the problem.
Thanks for reading my tragic story, I sympathise with everyone else who has the same problem. Any help would be much appreciated!
when ever i plug in my zen the screen turns on then it stays on the screen that says zen even though its got life it freezes when i turn it onit just stays on the zen sreen. It wont even connect to my computer
Yea Ive got the same problem too... I plugged my zen vision m into the com.. then.. i hav no idea wth happened. Anyway it ended up in this situation. I really want a solution.. as tbh its not under warranty anymore.. whenever i plug it into the com, the top blue light flickers and when it has enough batt, the top blue light jus stays on? the screen is off for the whole time. reset doesnt work, jus turns the top blue light off for awhile, then it comes back on again *sigh*
Same as above. Player is dead. Won't charge. Blue light flashes as if charging

When I plug in my Zen to my laptop a message comes up saying "Your player is not connected. Please connect your Zen Vision:M to the computer. I've tried turning it on and off, I've tried the holding the power button, I've tried restarting the computer and I've tried twiggling the USB wire around plugging it in and out etc. Battery was fully dead but that is charging when I plug it in. The 'docked' message is not coming up however. Can anyone offer me any help please?!! THank you :)

I have plugged my Zen into the computer to charge. It worked fine. When I went to use it would not turn on. I have tried to reset it but that does not work since it won't turn on. I have not opened the Zen since I don't want to damage it. I would appreciate any assistance that you afford me.
Thanks,
Karolyn

Mine is totaly dead, not even the blue light...
Same issue...reset and ON button worked. Had little faith but it did. Even started back where I left off when I powered it down last. :)
Mine is new, I got it in March of 08 and its January of 09. My smart friends told me it might be the battery, he said that there is little hope for a new battery seeing what kind is in it. It is, officialy dead.

My Player won't dock or charge, but the blue light flashes. HELP! I leave for Costa Rica tomarrow!!!
My Zen was playing yesterday and I noticed that it had low battery but I didn't think it was dead. But I plugged it in to charge but it didn't turn on like usual and the little blue light just flashes. I also tried resetting it but obviously that didn't work... I don't know what to do??
I have a similar problem except that my blue light remains on and no amount of pressing reset buttons, power switches, plugs, charging for 10 hours, etc does anything. Player is still dead.
I did notice when I hit the reset button, the blue light goes out but it just comes back on after releasing the reset.
HELP PLEASE...!
I have the same problem with charging it. I just wont charge for some reason!
Myzen vision m will notstart up
i've got the same problem! i really hate it... =(
I don't know what to do... hope something would help!
I have a Creative Zen Mp3 player 8GB and it was working just great until i was going to turn it on and it wouldn't turn on. The whole screen is black. Does anybody know how i can fix it.
I had this happen a few months after purchasing the unit. Sent it back since it was still under warranty, they fixed it and returned it. Guess what just happened....again (this time, just after the warranty expired). I'm convinced these things are just poorly made.
I have the exact same problem. I went on the the creative zen website and it said that it might take up 4 hours to charge.
I also have a Creative Zen Mp3 player 8GB. I had a reoccuring problem of freezes and on one reset it actually appeared to kill it! I can't even turn it on now. Blue light flashing and PC's not detecting it.
The whole screen is black. Does anybody know how to fix it? Please...I'd be eternally grateful!

my zen screen will not turn on and when i plug it in to the computer it is not seen but the top blue button is flashing. it wont turn on or let me do anything to it. i left it to charge over night and see if that does anything but nothing
if anyone has any ideas that would be great
blue light blinks i go to switch it on and nothing happens also computer does not recognize zen
My player wont turn on but the blue light flashes repeatedly at random. Twice it said recovering library then right as it finished it shut off agian. Its not dead because its been charching almost all day. Then I let it go dead because with most players that fixes the problem since it automatically resets itself and then goes back to normal but that didnt work either.
