SOURCE: Is playing video games bad for my TV

Absolutely not. Your set is the safest type of tv to play games on. Plasma sets are the worst type to play games on due to screen burn in. You are good to go.

Wii only in black&white

This is a common problem and it is not specific to Wii Fit Plus, it is a TV setup issue.
Access your TV's menu screen and be sure that your TV screen is expecting input from "AV" or "Video". If you have "S-Video" selected, this is the cause of why your Wii is playing black and white.

Wii plays in black and white

That happens when your wii and your Tv set don't have the same region, for example a PAL TV and a NTSC Wii, some TVs have the option for changing the input region mode. An European wii will always be PAL and an american wii will always be NTSC.

When I turn the Wii on it makes no sound

Check to see if the audio cables from the Wii to the TV might have come loose or unplugged.

If you have a friend with a Wii, see if their cable connecting the Wii to the TV works. Your cable might have gone bad.
